Well, I always loved the design but would never spend 400$ on a knife so I went for the clone.
I love it.

Pros :

  • Came razor sharp, literally
  • Really good finish, not a scratch out the box
  • True Titanium

Cons:

  • “CR” logo, I would have preferred an “homage” rather than a “counterfeinting” (no “Idaho made” marking though)
  • The screws can’t be held behind when screwed by the front (back screws don’t have print)
  • The clip is flimsy, it bends on thick jeans (I made a new one with thick piano wire for deep pocket carry)

For that price, you can’t go wrong !

Damn have you got a link for that?

Here you go Wrathbringer27,

Noticed the price has gone done under $46.

Reate Horizon D clone

Tonife Ermine pocket bowie at Lake Bohinj:

Some people spend too much time in their cars, I spend too much time modding my knives :stuck_out_tongue:

How did you round-off the edges of the CF scales?

I’ve ground the edges with a rotary tool on a belt grinder with 150 grit sandpaper, sanded the surface 400~~800~~>1200 grit and then I sanded the whole scale with a 1500 grid scotchpad under running water. To make the G10’s grain a bit more visible I used an old scotchpad and some metal polish to remove some of the epoxy but leave the glass fibers intact.

How come yours look a bit darker than grey for the handle scales?

Nadeau Typhoon copy alu version:

The picture of the Reate is lighter than actual.

Hey Isti - have you had a go with the Kwaiken clones yet? I’ve got a grey G10 one en-route.

Hi Paul,
I’m still resisting!
Don’t forget to share your first impressions when it arrives.

Thanks for the review! you just convinced me to order one!

You’re welcome

My Small Sebenza clone has also arrived from Aliexpress. Feels good in hand, only a little stiff at first.

I’m checking out Mnandi (sometimes misspelled as Minandi) clones on DHGate, not sure which seller to buy from though. Any recommendation?

I^ve got a Mnandi from AliExpress like 3 years ago for around $40-50, not sure anymore.
It was gritty at first, I had to disassemble it and remove a burr from the lockface.

The wood was a bit fat and not polished very well, I removed and sanded it (1.000 grit) and put it back with thin adhesive tape.
After anodizing the Ti and heat coloring the steel pocket clip to bronze I like it even more and now it’s in my wifes bag as and edc or apple knife

I think I wouldn’t buy this style again:

but rather this new version with the screws on the backside and only a small logo (I’d like a clean one).

I’d only buy another one with a titanium clip, the milled steel clip is very firm and not springy like a Ti clip would be, so it’s wise to ask the seller about it.

About which one to buy I’d go for user ratings, 10+ or more are recommended (hard to find at the moment).

Oh, and the knife might be smaller than you think, like a SRM 702 if you have that, definitely smaller thand the SRM 710.
