@Ouchyfoot: Nice! :love:

I like skylines, but have yet to buy one lol

Cold Steel Ti Lite and Mini Tuff Lite.

Actually this is from a self defense pdf pamplet

Ouchyfoot, racoon city:
Nice all black Southard and Blur!

I took my RAT I for a stroll in the woods:

Okay guys. This is the last you'll hear about my Skyline, but it is now the sharpest blade I have ever held. Ever!

I spent four hours, taking my time, being ever so careful. An absolutely perfect 15° edge (30° inclusive). Instead of just setting the arms on my WE sharpener at 15° and using that setting to run through all my stones and sandpaper, I reset the angle after every singe stone. I used a sharpie to make sure I was hitting the apex every time. At 2500 grit sandpaper, the edge was whittling hairs. I didn't even bother with the super microfine ceramics. I just stropped it from 5 micron down to o.125 micron using balsa, kangaroo leather and nano cloth Strops.

The edge on this knife is my benchmark of edge perfection. This knife is so sharp its obscene. This is what I've been striving for.

EL-01 goodness

Wow, my edc is an alienwear+m&p+enlan as well. Indiana unite

You Sir have great taste! Lol

Spyderco Kiwi 4

Kiwi 4 beside a Delica 4

While I would like to have the budget for a lot of knives, my various hobbies tend to eat up the extra cash. That being said my Cold Steel Voyager has been accompanying me now for more then six years. It may not hold an edge as long as others, but it is nice and light.

Those Brad Southard Spyderco’s look great, a very good knife, I got the clone version (black G10 and Satin blade) for ~$25 complete with caged ball bearing washers. I can see how the size, shape and the fact it’s a flipper would make it a great EDC, good steel on the genuine one as well.
Not sure about the Kiwi4, I had a Kiwi3 and gave it away, I know that the 4 is different but not in a good way for me, I do like the G10 but not backlocks or Wharnecliffe blades. With the deep choils it was a secure knife even the Stainless steel, no clip Kiwi3.
The Skyline, wow that is a great edge job. I had a chill for a while, terrible, hardware stripped taking it apart and it refused to centre to the point where it was either too stiff to open or rubbing the liners, put me off Kershaws for a while, my Chive is still going strong though. I should have got a Skyline instead of the Chill but was too impatient to save the extra money.

Spyderco Delica.

After I won the EBay auction for the Southard, I suddenly became very worried that I had bought a fake. Why did I get it for so cheap? Worry, worry, worry. I studied every You tube video on the real thing, and the fake…all the breakdowns etc.
Anyway, it’s real. I’ve had the whole thing apart. Being all black, I couldn’t examine the stone washing etc. the entire knife is pure matching black. I wonder if the Chinese version matches. I got this one from a Canadian seller. I’ve found Americans don’t generally bid outside the U.S, and being close to Christmas, people have already spent their money.
I never liked the kiwi 3. Too small, stainless handle, 8Cr13Mov, slip joint.
The kiwi 4 is bigger, VG10, G10. I don’t mind the back lock. I used to be real snotty about axis locks, frame locks ec, but I’ve changed. For light general use EDC, I take out my knife, cut something and close it. I really don’t need any Wyatt Earp fast flick closing. I’ll put a razor edge on it today.

I almost bought a Sebenza today. I’ve been wanting one forever, but I balked. Reality kicked in. Although I love it, it’s a little big for my personal carry, so it would sit in a box for me to take out and look at once in a while. Now I’m thinking about a Strider SNG or possibly a Brad Southard custom (mid tech).

Working mans everyday EDCs.

Affordable. Quality Steel. Lightweight. Great ergonomics. Low maintenance.

The Southard clone I have doesn’t look anywhere near as good as the genuine black or brown versions, there’s no way you’d confuse the one I have with the real thing. Stonewashed blade and frame with black G10. I don’t mind them like that, I have a few Sprint run clones that are marked with S30V steel, wrong! At least they will never be sold as genuine, all the Spyderco clones that I have have glaring flaws if you know what to look for, either boxes and Edge-U-Cation sheets wrong or something on the knives themselves. My latest, a Vallotton has an Edge-U-Cation sheet out of an Endura/Delica 4 series!
They look good and are good knives for the money but that’s as far as it goes.

The one knife I’ve never been attracted to is a Sebenza, the ā€œLisa’s Picksā€ are nice but not for me, too much money, I get the quality and the designs but I could never see me buying one.
Same for the ā€œWyatt Earpā€ open and closing, I like flippers that snap open but if they don’t it doesn’t matter to me, I even open some knives two handed and enjoy the process.

Go for the Southard - Shelach or Flippin’ Tanto, so much classier than a Strider, or Sebenza.

There’s some Spyderco Southard fakes that are really good. Almost impossible to tell apart if your not really careful. They go for around $60. I think someone had to have stolen the blueprints from Spydercos Taiwan factory, they’re that good.
I tried to put a deposit on a preorder for a Brad Southard Tolk, but all the pre-orders have been filled…sold out.

Apparently the companies that make serious fakes just buy an example of the real thing, take it apart, and replicate all the bits.

They are actually very good cutlery makers, it’s just unfortunate that their efforts go into making counterfeit knives. I guess that’s where the money is though.

Now if one of them would start replicating Cold Steel’s older model Voyager X2 or Vaquero Grande in 9Cr18MoV without using Cold Steel’s branding. I’d probably buy one.

Picked up a Svord Peasant Knife today.
This is how it looked right out of the box.

Then after a little user modification.
