see a review at: http://www.ephotozine.com/article/fujifilm-finepix-s4800-review-22146

Fujifilm S9000. I've taken over 2000 pictures with a single set of Eneloops.

$50-200 i was looking at the nikon d3100 there are a few on CL that is like new

do u own this camera ? if u do can u post some close ups ?

Nikon L610. Runs on 2xAA. CMOS sensor for excellent low light pictures

From mine. Here's 100% crop and nothing else. I wish it could get closer, but it has threads for filters and conversion lenses to facilitate that.

Old Fujifilm S5100. 10X zoom 2.8 lens Less than $200

Fujifilm makes a good camera. Canon of course is #1

honestly, just spend 100 dollar more and get this:

This will give you better image quality than a D3100(newer sensor), and is on par with anything on the market(including any APSC-DSLRs) other than going full frame. Unless you plan on shooting any action, this is great great kit for general use, and of course, beamshot pics  .

Canon sx130/150/160is. It does not get cheaper and the image quality is awesome + its a bridge. Great for fine tuning options.

thanks for all the help, ill have a look at all them

I take most close-ups with my phone camera, only the real enlargements I do through a stereo microscope. Phone camera's are relatively good in close-ups because of the small lens.

Speaking of close ups, I took this photo (of my laptop’s display) on a Nikon D5100 :stuck_out_tongue:
Here’s a 100% crop from it:

My budget camera is a Canon SX150 IS point-and-shoot. But you are looking for a DSLR? I got my Canon SL1 on black Friday for $449 out the door. But I’m sure you could find lots of used DLSRs on ebay in your price range.

i think im going towards Nikon D3000 or the Fujifikm Finepix S series S4800 16MP any thoughts on my selection

One is a DSLR and one is a point-and-shoot. The differences between these two types of cameras are huge.
