what can I do with these old flashlights?

I’ve got the following dead flashlighs:

-RQ 008 SSC P7
-Aurora AK P7

Are any of these any use a a host to build something?

You can mod about anything, if its worth it to you. Dead usually means fried driver, you can verifiy that by attaching leads from a cell directly to the LED (use a weak/partially depleted cell and rather thin leads).

Absolutely ! The only restriction would be budget, skill level and imagination.

Triple q5 , r5, or xml. Probably not the most practical build considering a
single 18650 and 36 - 42 mm heads. but definitely a could do.
Be willing to bet there’s a tube extension somewhere that will fit.

A single T6 with a 7135*8 ought to be pretty straight forward & budget friendly.

While I don’t have either to take measurements on. The RQ would likely take a C8 reflector and the 42.9 x 1.9 u.c.l lens from Int’l Outdoors
Not a necessity to change the reflector, one of the top selling single xml 52mm drop-in’s at DX uses a P7 reflector.
You could polish the tailcaps & bezel. Add GITD tail caps / o-rings etc.
The head of the Aurora just begs for some led strips for bling.
There are all kinds of places to put tritium tubes or fiber optic sticks like found in
firearm night sights. Then there’s the laser route… I know very little about building one, but the info is out there if you search. Strong GoogleFu you will need !

It’s your build, do it to fit what you like.

With the knowledge here and enough determination, you can do darn near anything.

Welcome to BLF Varminter

These sound perfect for an emitter and driver upgrade get on it and post pictures when your done. Feel free to ask any questions and we will help you along.

Aloha and welcome to BLF NZ Varminter!

Unless I'm mistaken aren't p7s driven at similar currents to xmls so you could just switch out the LED.

Come to think of it you’re right.
