I saw this earlier, it looks cool, does it serve any practical purpose though?
Nope I live in New Zealand, why do you ask?

I was just going to share a couple of good places to buy from in the USA, but International Shipping would kill that for you since you are in NZ.

After you’re done deciding on the normal S2+, I recommend getting the nichia UV version as well, paired with the UV pass-through black glass.
Best $17 I’ve ever spent on this hobby.

Re: the UV… if you eat out or use hotels/motels, or are a minerologist, yes (maybe other uses too that I don’t know of). Dry body fluids fluoresce in UV, so sanitation can be easily checked when out or home. Plus it’s just too cool to see what things look like in the dark and outside in UV.
BTW, the S2+ is a really nice light. I have a few but I didn’t know there was a BLF version. That’s been ordered. Does anyone know if there are rebuild drivers and such for my existing S2+ lights if , as I suspect, the BLF version puts my others to shame?

There isn’t a BLF version of the Convoy S2+. The previously mentioned BLF/Astrolux light in this thread is completely different tube light.

You might as well get the S2+ shipped straight from Simon’s Aliexpress store to NZ. Purchasing from a US retailer, and then shipping via a US address will only increase your cost, and possibly shopping time too.

Yeah that’s what I did. I assume he is referring to flashlights stores that only ship to the US.

Is this not a BLF s2+? I never wrote Convoy; I have no idea where you got that from but it wasn’t from me*. My post was based on a post in the thread.
Nur US$34.64, kaufen Sie den besten BLF A6 XPL 1600Lumens 7/4modes EDC LED Flashlight 18650 Online-Shop zum Großhandelspreis.
Or are you telling me that the answer to my question is that parts aren’t available? Completely confused.
*got it… you got it from the title of the thread, except the thread took a turn. Hence my question.

If you live in an area that has scorpions, they glow under UV light. There is a naturalist group in the Palm Springs area that has a bi-weekly scorpion walk. They ask participants to bring a UV flashlight.

No scorpions in NZ thankfully!
I bet you have folks who can’t hit the bowl though, or folks who leave bodily fluids in the bed in rented rooms. Disgusting. I’d rather not sleep in that.

Yeah, I might pick one up as well. Really keen for a L6 as well but I want to pace myself haha.

That’s what Cheerios are for. Some people need a target.

sorry to bring old thread back, what is the purpose of the black glass?
sorry to bring old thread back, what is the purpose of the black glass?
Filters out the visible-light “leakage” and lets only the UV pass through.
i see, thanks.
