Finished the second FW1A Pro upgrade.
Dremeling the notches in the gasket is fairly delicate work.
I’m looking to have my buddy 3d print me some using high temp material with notches already built in.
This one was tough to take apart.
I had to use 2 strap wrenches to crack the bond on the bezel.
My first one was much easier.

I added front aux lights to my DDH M0BC.
When I first did the build, I had wired it for front aux, but didn’t have a board to hook up.
So I just tucked the wires alongside the copper pill in the head.
Fast forward, I ordered a D4V2 aux board from Jackson.
The board measured 23.46mm, but I only had about 22.9mm of room.
So I carefully filed the edges of the board down to around 22.89mm.
I didn’t want to file it down any smaller as I was worried about cutting into the traces.
The board ended up being a fairly tight press fit into the head, but it works!
The resistor values are different between the button and front aux, button having higher resistance.
When the aux is set to low brightness, the front takes most of the power, so the button is dimmer than normal.
I’ll probably pull the button out and match the resistor values to the front.

Edited to add: I’ve slowly been working in KiCad (which I’m very new to) on a quad aux board that will better fit the S21E and M0BC and similar hosts. Here it is with all of the components roughly placed.
I still need to finish the middle cuts and then add all the traces and vias.

Last night I built one of my 32mm FET+1+C SaVage Series drivers.
The PCB is 2mm Thick so I bumped my hot plate up 10c hotter than I normally do for the standard 1.6mm PCBs.

lol yes upgrade! But semi new to me, slowly trying to snag some of my favorite older lights. P60 format lights are my jam even to this day but finding available decent quality pills are getting harder to come by
I love the B35AM. I have lights with it at 3000K, 3500K, 4500K and 5700K, now thinking about getting another at 2700K.

Yeah! I actually have a few in cart but was more talking about the pills vs fully built ones, mtn electonics used to have some excellent ones for custom quads but they aren’t making them anymore now

Even Kaidomain seems to have stopped the empty “P60 shells”. FYI you can still get drop-ins reasonably cheaply on AliExpress if you wade through the listings:
Obviously this is in their “bundle for less”, so you’d need to add 2 other (cr@p) products to your cart to check-out.
You might find if you put a WTB here and the other forum that someone would be willing to part with their custom P60, there’s been a few higher quality ones offered over the years.

In my experience it also counts if you add 3 of the same items, so 3 of those drop-ins should also work/count as 3 items.

Keep in mind those pills have no retaining ring for the driver so youll have to solder it to the pill.

Yep! Seems like most of what’s still available are the solder route, I only have one pill with a retaining ring now. Not the worst just takes a little more effort

Started a modification on a Nextorch T1 gen 1
Love the size of this light but the output isn’t great for current day options. Happened to have a few leftover convoy 17mm drivers and thought one may fit (5v3A buck). Second thought was a triple 20mm may fit.
Started doing some measurements, found out a triple should work really well, and the driver fits.
Ended up destroying the original driver trying to get it out but no biggie, no going back after this mod. Put some speed holes in the original press fit retainer to assist with tightening and removal. Also ground in a flat area to get the washer out for easier removal. Opened up the hole so the convoy spring would fit and added an oring just in case to isolate the spring from rubbing the washer(hoping this will work).
Added a center hole to fit the wires through and removed burrs. Ran out of time but waiting on some 519s and board from mtn electronics.
