Its gone from live locusts and worms for the dragon, frozen rats(then defrosted) for the ball python(one passed, other given back) to a new member Nala. She has gone from biscuit type to barf. Coat much better(does not fart any where near as much!) 16kg of 0.5kg frozen packs delivered to the door every couple of week.

Google “Class action lawsuit against Merrick - Purina”. Sounds like Merrick/Purina should have been part of the recall.

Stunning!!! great pic to :sunglasses:

Only now reading back, last time i looked at this thread it was on the 1st page. Nala was on the typical sacks, platinum of a brand. Farts, beeps , the barf diet of which she has 500g for breaky and 500g for tea has more than agreed. She loves it, coats better, beeps once a day lol and does not fart that much!!! win win.

No actual “pets”, but some outdoor cats. 1-2 regulars and various passers-through.

I just buy cases of Friskies and the occasional bag of Meow Food. Seems they only like poultry, and only grudgingly eat beef. They seem happy enough.

I’m more worried about speeding cars and ’holes with pellet-guns than a poor diet doing ’em in.

After writing in this thread — I was wondering if you would post in it— All those creatures you have running around your house

Hey there, hope all is good your way :+1:

Will dig a pic out
RIP spike

Not many pics on imgur, most were on photobucket which i hate!

All is Great my friend—- That’s not a dog you have— That’s a horse

Nala looks great too! Mines been on BARF from the breeder so can’t compare to before but compared to most dogs the waste is so much less, teeth look immaculate too :+1:

Old cat == kidney cats. The stuff allowed to be pet “feed” is amazing. I’m not talking about the parts you or I wouldn’t eat, but the fact that dead animals that might be contaminated can be used to make pet “feed”. truthaboutpetfood.com woman is a bit crazy, but she is right about what is allowed to be in pet food. I try to feed my cats from the mom and pop food companies, but that is getting harder as the big companies are buying out the little ones to have boutique foods.

And when you have a fussy eater, good luck :frowning:

My three cats are eating a combo of two dry foods: Halo Spot’s Stew Cat Formula Grain-Free Hearty Chicken recipe and Wellness Complete Health Natural Dry Cat Food Indoor Chicken. These are both lower in Na and K, which are bad for kidney cats. The 21 year old passed last October and I have one kidney cat and two seven year olds. The kidney cat gets wet food supplement with some meds in it. I get a case of Fancy Feast at Costco.

I have been feeding a group of four ferals since last August and the four share two cans of $0.37 9 Lives on sale at the local pet store. I buy the cans with the most calories.

The really, really cheap dry cat food is mostly corn, which is pretty terrible for cats.

I have spent an arm and a leg on vet bills for older cats; fluids and meds aren’t cheap. And one of the young ones had a tissue growth in his ear and $10k later, (CT scan and surgery) they removed his ear canal and middle ear. Fortunately, it was benign and he has made a complete recovery with no symptoms of vestibular syndrome. But they are my family, I make a good living and I don’t spend my money on anything else so I have pretty high tolerance for vet bills.

If believing that makes you feel good, that’s all that matters.

ps - Just don’t tell capo he’s been eating Purina for the past 4 years.

New dogfood:

“I Can’t Believe It’s Not Purina!”

I have 2 cats and a hedgehog.
Some stray cats and a frog also visiting our house for meals, every night.

This is what I fed them.

and here’s the frog (or toad?)

My Japanese Akita breeder in Europe uses BARF but I don’t trust using uncooked American meats, so I cook chicken, beef, or pork and equal amounts of barley, buckwheat, rice, or other grains. If I use rice I wash it very thoroughly to reduce the arsenic content. She eats a little high quality kibble if she’s still a little hungry after dinner. I supplement with vitamins and add cottage cheese, eggs, and other stuff. Canned pumpkin added regularly for fiber to help avoid anal gland issues. She only eats what she needs so I can leave food out and she will eat when and what she needs.

I have a cat, and sometimes I feed her with sour cream and milk. But more often she hunts and finds something to eat herself.

Dog: regular kibble, often boiled in a pan with lunch leftovers if there are any. In tighter days, raw kibble.

Cat: pure kibble, preferably linseed-and-chicken. She’s fussy as heck about food, won’t eat anything but kibble, not even treats.

Whole Earth Farms since she’s been adopted 5 years ago last week. Our pit mix loves the grain free version.
But prob should rotate with different brands instead of within same brand. Current bag of the same food,
she vomited a couple times. That has never occurred before, could be coincidental… But she eats it like it’s ice cream.

Lately I prefer to feed them vapcell or eneloop.

It’s nice to see people actually taking notice of this now the FDA has named names. That’s a very unusual step for them.

Hey ! , Nobody eats the same type/taste of food all the time !—That get’s boring , even tho some food beats NO food !
Give the pets a break ,change the food/taste/variety every now & then ! They’re your pets , they are like family members !!
Just like us !-“Variety is the spice of life”—You took them in , treat them right :exclamation: —-FEED THEM like you’d FEED YOU !!
