I know that the forum already has "buy" and "sell" section but maybe a trade section could be useful. Everyone of us has some parts, some flashlight and some other stuff that don't need anymore. We can trade this parts and have 4 advantages:
- You have more space for new stuff
- You can have the item you need.
- You don't use money (You "only" have to pay shipping cost)
- You know the "seller"
For example A may need 4 18650 battery and has a lot of Q5 drop-in and B needs a Q5 drop-in and has thousand of 18650 battery.
You make a post describing what you have and what you need and see if someone can match your request.
Obviously trading in the same country would be more convenient but it always depends on the value of the trade.
Glad to see that seems a good idea. Let's see what's the opinion of other people and of the Admin.
Sometimes i have also new item that i don't need, or circuit board that i swap and i don't want to store them in a box until the day they became obsolete.
It might be kind of fun especially for parts. Something that you can mail in a padded envelop or a regular envelop would involve very little hassle.
Maybe someone has the right o-ring, small lenses, someone else wants it and sends a li-ion battery in return or something that one can't easily get in their neighborhood.
Maybe someone bought a bag of parts from DX and sends one to another member who is working on a project just so they don't have to wait a month for just one part.
I think it would be interesting depending on how it evolves. I like the idea of the member who posted that he would do certain mod's for only the cost of parts and shipping just for fun (I'm sure that's as long as too many people don't contact him at once) :)
I've often thought it would be interesting to know one or two members who live in your local town as well. This is a hobby. I'd help out anyone I could and it's a different feeling when you start trying to make some money from some service....the fun goes away :)
I'm currently going nuts just waiting for my 14500's to arrive just to see if a certain light can take them and not fry the emitter or driver! If I knew a member locally who would let me borrow a 14500 until mine arrives then would make the wait of no consequence. I'd do something similar for them.
It's the same with o-rings. One minute I have none and then next minute I have too many. It would be easy to mail one to someone who needed that particular o-ring.
