What flashlight is best for bushcraft?

By following standards:

  • great efficiency (power to light)
  • with much mAh (preferably 21700)
  • nice flood and range edit: reasonable flood for walking through woods and trails, but still with good enough range to see what’a in the distance (200-300 meters is sufficient)
  • durable
  • most versatile I’m mainly looking for convoy/sofirn/wurkkos - i.e. not too cheap not too expensive

Nice to have:
good UI for emergency use - i.e.: turbo mode that’s easy to use under stress
moon mode ~ 1 lumen

It’s good to have you here, light1!
I could recommend my EDC, but it doesn’t possess the “nice to have” features.
How much throw are you interested in?
That’ll help BLF members recommend an emitter. :+1:

Where I can see Yours EDC?

I think nice entry level is

This is my EDC…

It has some throw, but if one wants more throw, the SFT40 would be a better choice.

Flood and range tend to be mutually exclusive.

For actual outdoor use, your primary light is a headlamp. I recommend getting an armytek or a Fireflies L70.

2 Thanks

I agree. Bush craft sounds like a bit of a broad term but unless you’re on the move i.e. hunting, searching, trekking, you’re best bet is a head light and a lantern

Already having sofirn hs21 and Wurkkos cl03.

I’m actually looking for duty flashlight like convoy s2+ but possibly better (I have that convoy and like it)

You’re right. I’m actually looking for nice duty flashlight with good enough floody for walking through woods but also reasonable range.

I have convoy s2+ and like it - I’m looking for something better

Sofirn SP35 if you can find it.
Sofirn SR12 has good throw but it is powered by 18650 battery

The Acebeam L35 2.0 is tough to beat as a general purpose outdoor light.

Head lamp makes the most sense.

2 Thanks

That kind of info is needed to help direct you. Now you’re back in standard flashlight format.

You haven’t mentioned colour temperature or CRI… are they of concern to you?

Acebeam h30

I would suggest to mod Your S2+

I’m trying to create perfect all round S2+ EDC
I will post when it’s ready.

A “compromise light” (eg, flood and throw) usually does both like shiite.

Get a headlamp like the HS21 or HS42 to start, for close- to medium range, and dedicated thrower for long range.

Two is one, and one is none.

So get at least 3.

1 Thank

Already have hs21 - great light!
For thrower I also have Convoy l21b with CULPM.TG1 if I remember well.
I want to step level up from my convoy s2+ which is my duty light for now, with something similar to that convoy, but just possibly better.

Nice, let me know!
My current convoy s2+ is linear driver, which gets hot pretty quick. That’s why I’m looking for something all around better.

Don’t know much about upgrading though.

They’re not. The higher CRI the better, but that’s not main issue for me.

Most important: durability, efficient power consumption, space for 21700 battery (but I’ll consider also 18650 or others), not too bulky, and reasonable light angle for outdoors activities i.e. woods walking, trails, camping.

Also I really like diffuser on my convoy s2+, would be nice to have such diffuser for a light that you recommend, but it’s not a must at all.
