What is it's CRI ?

hello everyone,….

would anyone know what the CRI is of the Fenix PD32UE 5000CCT please ?.
they claim 100 is perfect.

would this mean it’s better than say a 4000CCT Nichia 219, something warm white?.

hope that made some sense.

was wondering what is best for eyes, rather than more brightness chasing.
thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Who is they?

thanks, referring to CRI.

got my answer just now. thank you.

Who claims that. I’ve studied the specs of the Fenix PD32UE and it is not high CRI.
It is a neutral/white XM-L T6, most probably a 3C tint. The CRI would be about 75.
Most probably in the 5000K range.
Fenix makes no claim High CRI in the PD32UE.

Yeah probably 70-75 cri, and yes my pd32ue is derfinitely 5000k tint

Nichia is 4500k tint and 92 cri

Mmmmmmmmmm!

Mmmm what? Did I leave out the 219? Sorry the Nichia219 is 4500k tint and 92 cri

I meant Mmmmmmmmm…like Yummmmmmmmmmm.

I’d like to see 3000-3500K just for shizz and comparisons …

Oh, lol yup. I totally recomend the 219, I have four dropins and three light with them and love them.

I checked all the official Fenix specs, and nowhere is “perfect” or anything like it mentioned.

Were not talking tint here, 100 CRI is perfect totaly different to tint.

Please see Colour rendering index

On that wiki link above they seem pretty negative about the CRI chart as a whole, lots of notes about it doesn’t work under 5000k and not being suitable with LED’s.

Yet they mention a incan/halogen at 3200k is 100 on the scale (even though its under 5000k).

Lots of contradictory information on there, it looks like people that don’t agree with each other have put it together.

CRI is CRI you can’t get better than 100, subjectivily wether that floats your boat is an entirely different matter.

Any way you look at it, there is no such thing as a Cree XM-L T6 with a CRI of 100.

Sure there is. The Chinese have them. And they put out 3000 lumens when driven by 1 watt.

CRI is relative to a black body radiator. Believe it or not you probably will see colors more accurately with a 75 cri neutral white led than a 100 cri mini maglight. Yes all incandescants are 100 cri, but they’re far from perfectly able to render color.

I find the average neutral white led perfectly acceptable for even amateur photography/video work. Think about it this way movie studio HMI lights are only about 80 CRI but are well capable of lighting an indoor area to make it look exactly like they removed the roof of the room. At my previous work at a mall they decided to film part of an episode of CSI and they brought in those HMI’s and when they turned them on it looked indistinguishable to daylight but still only 80 CRI.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but color accuracy isn't an absolute value right? It has to be relative to some point of comparison. If your point of comparison is mid-day sunlight, then a 5000K 80CRI light will be more "accurate" than a 3000K 100CRI light. If youf point of comparison is late afternoon sun, then 3000K 100CRI will be more "accurate". Accuracy, without mention of a point of comparison, is not the best word to use here.

Thanks for that. I understand CRI fairly well, but the point of having a neutral/ white and a warm with the same high CRI befuddled me. Your “point of comparison” observation makes it all click.
