What is the issue? Vendors read!

Hey folks so i now have a numerous number of flashlights (torches as we call them here) and chargers but the same thing happens every time i buy a new product no option for Australian plugs?

what is the issue? You would think by now they would be including the options for aussie sockets.

Yes i know i can use a travel adapter but i am not a fan of them. we already pay a lot more then our overseas counterparts this just adds to the cost!

I do have about 7 chargers lol lucky some are USB and i also have a few rechargeable flashlights.

Be The Change You Want To See

What are “Australian plugs?”

Maybe you could be the first to document them (pinout, voltage & current ranges, pertinent regulations from your government, etc.) here, where vendors desperately claw for any tidbit of information that will help them put more of their product into our hands……….

Hmmm?

After full disclosure, it’s down to your mates and countrypersons to place enough Australian orders to warrant the expense.

Yes, that will render your question moot, but isn’t that what you really wanted anyway?

Just sayin…

Get yourself one sizeable european or american type powerstrip and attach an australian plug, for all wrong plugs in one go.

we do order a lot that is not the problem. Australian’s make up a large minority of this website. vendors do offer Australian plugs on limited items. I spoke to geaebest in the past about it and now they offer Australian version of a few items but if your going to do a few why not all?

Most Chinese products are universal being able to be used between 110-240 volts I think the UK also runs 240v

Really? Somehow I doubt that…

This might help some situations.

This is your type of plug?

Used in a lot of countries (though the question is how much costumers will buy a lot of stuff looking a the ist on the right, surely not a lot from all those mentioned.)
You looked for plugs that a good for other countries on that list?

I think the whole world should use standardized plugs like the phones and computers did, it is crazy not to have one.

Large Minority though.

I thought you could just turn them upside down and they would work down under. :stuck_out_tongue:

Then the polarity would be backwards and toast would only cook on one side

LOL

It’s kind of comical that Aus and china plugs are basically the same yet the Chinese vendors often only sell US and euro stuff.

well…. all legality aside? If it were ME….

i would buy a couple of “the kind of plugs(receptacles) i wish i had” off the internet, put them in a box, and wire up a thick extension cord to go into whatever is the standard Aussie plug…

kind of a home made strip connector… that has the plugs you need on it. Just wire it up correctly is all…

I have some power strips at work that will take Chinese Euro and US plugs, I’ll get a picture tomorrow.

All great ideas i will take them on board thanks!

I have a few figure 8 cables i was hoping with Dicksmith closing down i could score a few AC to DC adapters i was also looking at their multi-meter but its sold out in Sydney.

The Chinese plug does look similar and it is similar specked. so why no aussie plug that just makes it worse lol

I am gob smacked that you can legally touch mains i used to work for telstra as a technician here (telecom) . I will not even touch mains my houses runs 15amp plugs and 10 amp lights on a very old school from the 80s or 90s ceramic plug with a wire fuse lol.

I have watched a few YouTube videos from people from the UK the electrician code there looks strict.

Are you sure they’re 15amp plugs? Most household plugs and sockets in Aus are 10amp. The 15amp plugs have a larger earth pin.

I mean my mains is 15amp. Yea most sockets are only 10 amps unless you have 3 phase

Yes, I agree.

Most of the world now uses metric systems, like temperature (celcius), and distance (metres).
There are only 5 or so countries left to catch up with temperature…
and only 3 countries yet to go metric (Burma, Liberia and USA).

Some countries are a mess. Water taps (faucets) any way the plumber happened to fit them, mains electric wire spaghetti tied to poles or palm trees, one country even drives on the left or right side of the road depending which city you are in (China).

One of the advantages of Australia being a young country was it’s ability to take the best of standards, like ascending date notation (DD/MM/YY), spelling, even standardized water taps (hot on the left, cold on right).
Bit of a nanny state though.

Universal Mains Plug

You guys are just over-thinking this. There’s already a perfectly universal answer to this problem:

(Please note: If you can’t tell this is a joke, Darwin has a Theory about you!)
