What is the name of this in English?
![]()
In Italian it is “correggiolo”; I do not need for a weapon, I need for a flashlight!
Regardless of the material it is a lanyard. There might be another name for this phone cord style.
Yep, lanyard or dummy cord.
…Thank you very much for your help!
I don’t know if these are of interest to you, but I have a couple from Mil-Spec Monkey. Perhaps not the cheapest, but very good quality, I think. I have no idea how much it would cost to get them to Italy, so that might be a consideration. Anyway, here are the four varieties: 1, 2, 3, 4.
If you are a DIYer, you can make your own with gutted paracord, weed wacker cord, a wooden dowel, some small parts and a big pot of boiling water. I don’t have time to type all the instructions right now, but if you, or anybody else, want to know, let me know and I’ll post it up.

I like these Coiled lanyard:

But I think I’ll do it by myself because I must have certain characteristics: Stowed Length = 52cm; Full extension (must stop) = 70cm. with 450 grams of weight hanging.
My wife is dressmaker, I’ll help from her …but any advice or ideas are welcome ![]()
Here a tutorial is. http://edcforums.com/threads/making-a-paracord-coated-curly-lanyard.75394/
Well, this is how I do it.
I take a 10” x 1/2” wood dowel (that should be, roughly, around 30cm x 1cm). You can vary the length and width of the dowel according to your needs. I drill a hole just bigger than the size of the weed wacker line (the line I use is 2.5mm) widthwise 1” in from either end. I take about 4’ of gutted paracord and slip the line through it. Then thread a few inches of line through the hole (the paracord won’t fit, but get the paracord as close as you can to the hole) and start coiling it tight. When you get to the other end, slip the line through the other hole. You may need to trim some paracord away to do this (at which time the whole thing will unravel, you’ll curse me, and then start over).
My setup looks like the 2nd picture in the 3rd link below, but with paracord. If the line won’t stay in the holes you drilled, a heat gun or lighter will allow you to bend the loose ends up so they stay put better. Some people use tape, but that is a mess, IMHO. Also, the paracord may seem loose on the line, but after boiling and drying, it tends to shrink.
I grab an XL stock pot that I use exclusively for “man crafts”… don’t use your wife’s, it will only get you grounded. Also, don’t heat up kydex in her oven, but I digress. Fill the stock pot up with enough water to completely submerge the dowel. Bring the water to a boil. Toss the dowel/paracord wrap into the water for like 10 minutes. I hang mine off a metal coat hanger contraption I made, but as long as you don’t let it settle to the bottom, you’ll be fine.
Then throw it into a cold bath and let it rest for five more minutes. Take the coil off the dowel. The coil will likely be a little loose and irregular. You will be sad. But don’t worry, coil one end back over the rest one loop at a time and it will tighten the whole thing up. Cut the non paracord covered ends off and/or cut it to your desired length. I usually put electrical connectors and heat shrink wrap on the ends, but you can also make a loop at the end by folding over a split ring or a carabiner (when I do this I use a heat gun to make sure the line wants to stay bent). I also sew and/or heat shrink when I do this. Anyway, the options are pretty endless. Fishing tackle, McGizmo clips, assorted stuff from the hardware store, etc.
And since a picture is worth a 1000 words, here is a thread over at EDCF that is similar to what I do. Here is a video from ITS that uses a commercial wrist coil as the starting point. Here is a thread about doing it with fishing line.
I hope that helps. If you have other questions. please let me know.
OH COME ON. |( Scaru bets me to it with the short and sweet version. Not cool, man, not cool! ![]()
To be fair, I stopped and had dinner half way through my dissertation. ![]()
Maybe, if you had refreshed in the last hour you would have seen that. :P
Hey, all’s fair in love and war.
Bwahahaha! Reminds me of filling in a housing with solder and copper in one of our normal kitchen pots on the stove. Turns out the flux splatters and permanently marks the pot. Who knew?
Definetly don’t use th oven for kydex. I’ve been through that. ![]()
I’ve pretty much been relegated to the garage with a toaster oven and a hot plate. I think she’d like to move all my stuff out there!
So, Katun, have you attempted to make one yet?
Yesss! The first test went well. ![]()

Wow, look at that jig, pretty cool. You can make that coil much tighter if you reverse the coils. It’s easier to do than explain, but you basically put the second from right coil to the right of the first coil and repeat until the left end is now the right end.
Did that make any sense?
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Always cool stuff on the flashlight forum!!! WOOT
Jack
is there a video or something for the way you tied that to the flashlight? One of my sons is liking to make paracord stuff. I showed him the posts that you and others have here that is what got him started
Thanks

I don’t want to step on Jack’s toes, but it appears to be a 5L x 4B Turk’s head with both working ends being used as a lanyard. Here is a video. Here is another Wider version (16L x 3B). Here is a variation of the theme.
When you have time, you and your son should check out TIAT and Stormdrane.
I hope that helps.
