I’ve noticed that in the ads on the left of the BLF, there are a couple that seem a little “odd”, including the one with the guy with the lampshade on his head and the other one with the rather angry-looking young man. Maybe they’re supposed to be kind of humorous, but they’re just rotating among those 2 plus the one with the guy holding the light (in a forest, I guess). Is there anyway to change/eliminate those?

I kinda like ’em. They are stupid, but funny.
Yeah... my biggest complaint is when I see a DX ad that has a light I like the looks of... Then I click and it takes me to their full listing. No way to ID the light from the ad. 
xd I was going to post a thread on this… But I didn’t want to stir up stuff.
I just post the ads that DX sends me, as long as they aren’t risqué or misleading. DX also decides where they want them to link to. They do change their ads fairly frequently, but I’ll send them a message to the effect that the current ads aren’t exactly popular with our users.

Sorry about posting. I was really on the fence about mentioning it, but then my wife happened to walk by and saw that one and said something like “Why would they have an ad like that?”.
Maybe they are trying to get the urban crowd. That ad just makes me want to write a letter to the school and ask what is really going on

That kid looks like he is mugging for the camera. he looks “play” angry to me. Or maybe its his take on the classic selfie “trout-pout.”
Either way, its odd, but I guess it got attention, which is probably 80% of the battle for web ads.
Imagine if that thing went turbo in his face like that

Plus I’m fine with adds if it helps keep BLF running. And I like DX’s selection.
checked here to see if anyone thought that DX ad was odd. Or does that light just plain stink?
As long as it's not an animated Flash ad, I can live with it.
I'd say there ads were working as they hoped as it self promoting as this thread has shown.
I lol’d the first time I saw the new one with the little kid shining the light on himself like he’s telling a scary story. Dont ask them to get rid of it, I actually told myself I liked the add so much I would buy the next thing I saw that I wanted from them that I would usually pass on just cause their new add made me laugh. So much better than what it could be…
+1 They should try and put at least the SKU number or the direct link to the product.
Most ads for flashlights are dull and boring. These are so weird and bizarre that they become really, really good ads. Surprisingly good.
The face of the little kid is very expressive and it obvious that he is having a lot of fun with the flashlight.
The sharp dressed guy out in the woods with a flashlight, or with a lampshade over his head, is so weird and strange that it becomes fun.
