My condolences. Come to Europe, so many things are much less fucked up over here and we’ll be happy to have you!
I’m from the UK, just live in the US - unfortunately, things are just as messed up over there as they are here, it feels like…
Oh, your mentions of the south and of living in a state made me think you’re in the US. Fair enough, the delta(fuckup) is smaller if that’s the case
Yeah, that was what I meant. From the UK, currently in the US. Currently stuck in the south there, it was supposed to be a much shorter temporary thing, with a long term goal of the pacific northwest, but a series of bad luck and some difficult relationship circumstances mean it has been a decent few years more than intended.
I don’t think anywhere in the UK has undrinkable tapwater, just the the political situation there is and seems like for the foreseeable future will remain untenable for me, not to mention the ongoing effects of Brexit.
Strong coffee, then water.
I used to trust tap water but then I saw my city’s reservoirs and treatment plant. So I went to bottled water, but then I saw the bottling plant so I don’t trust that anymore. So I went to RO water but then I saw where they get the activated carbon from. So now I just lick the dew off people’s lawns every morning.
Phew. At least I’m not the only one who does that.
But then I saw what the neighborhood dogs do to the lawns.
Aside from water, this stuff:
https://www.amazon.com/Rockstar-Energy-Drink-Whipped-12Count/dp/B094F2P134
Tastes kind of like a Nestle Orange and Cream Ice Cream Bar–has a light carbonation and 160mg of caffeine. It’s Perfect.
Only problem is that none of the stores around here carry it. Only place I can find it is on Amazon where it costs more than any of the locally available Rockstar flavors. In a pinch, the Whipped Strawberry flavor is good too, just not AS good.
OK, I will say it.
Coca-Cola
Squirt
but also
1/5 Lemonade 4/5 Red Diamond Unsweet Tea
Milk
Chick-fil-a Peach Shake (yep Jeff you are right!)
During the day it is just plain water through the Brita water filter and stored in the frig as I like cold water.
Well After work I have a new favorite. Root beer and Buffalo Trace Cream Bourbon.
Tastes just like a root beer float.
Is cloyingly sweet and a low acholic proof so no getting drunk or headaches the next day.
That’s a good idea for a filter jug in general, cold and dark inhibits microbial and algal growth. Downside of filter jugs is that there’s standing water that’s been stripped of all in-transit antimicrobial agent such as dissolved chlorine gas that normally takes care of that.
I filter it to get rid of the fluorine and chlorine flavors out of the water to begin with. I am on city water and when I move here shortly I will be on well water that is tested yearly.
I grew up in places that did not add those things to the water, so I really do not like the chemicals added to my water. Not worried about in transit microbial or algal blooms in my water as I use up what I filter rather quickly and wash out my storage vessels when I change out the filters.
Yes I have sat through all the debates about additives to water before drinking. I understand my risks and how dangerous I am living my life.
I never liked root beer. I tried it many times.
Not trying to dissuade you in the slightest.
Water. I prefer eating 100% of my calories.
Drinking some of them and eating less of them isn’t as satisfying.
Never thought about that. Good point.
Genius!
I suspect favourite means different things to different people.
Are we all talking about "favourite treat drink, in which case, I’ll enjoy a glass of wine or two, or beers, in the evening, perhaps with a meal, and it’s an enjoyable experience.
Or, are we talking about “favourite to drink all day”? In which case, coffee in the mornings and water all afternoon…
