Nah, just buy it again, dab it with coke or maple-syrup, anything brown, then let it dry, snap pix, and pan it in reviews saying you got a rusted POS and want your money back.

Got a CJRB Barranca on the way. Love the blade shape, but the flipper tab design not so much. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

This will be my first CJRB knife. CJRB is the budget line from Artisan Cutlery.

On another note. I received the Real Steel H6 Special Edition ll today. Great blade shape and sharpness. Great G-10 scales are nicely textured and grippy. Great ergonomics. Love the jimped thumb ramp. Thumb studs are a good size and well placed.

Don’t like the action all that much. There are washers instead of bearings, and it is very noticeable to me. There are two different sized torx screws. One size is a tiny T-4 and the other is T-5. I prefer one size, like a T-6 all around. The pivot screw is semi-stripped out. I will contact the seller and see whats going on with that. The box indicates that it is a 2016 production model, so maybe quality control wasn’t so great back then, and they overlooked the roughed up pivot screw…?

Not a knife, but I ordered the new RUIXIN-008 guided sharpening system ($35 on AE). I first got into guided sharpening with a $18 EPA clone, horrible build quality out of the box with nearly useless stones, but I managed to greatly improve it using a file and dremel. Even with the crap stones I was able to give my cheap kitchen knives a better looking edge than I ever could by using a wetstone.

I also ordered a decent set of Boride stones from gritomatic and a cheap set of starter diamond matrix stone to work with S90V and M390 steels.

Sharpening is getting more addictive than knives…

Whet and oil stones were all the rage. forever. Till some decent adhesived Diamond chip ones appeared.

Nowadays. Most I know use the diamond plates or/and steels.

But it’s a good idea to buy a long and short blade, cheap knives.
To practice on the angles and strokes With pressures to suit.
Before getting into the Diamond seriously.

They can pull a LOT off your blades if you a little uncertain.
I keep a 6 in Ruby stone though. Just for polishing blades.
They give a much smoother face to blades.
Check on sharpening forums for decent plates.Steels.
With reviews. on how to.
There are a lot of cheap rubbish ones out there.
DMT are good.

The stones it comes with wear extremely fast and are pretty low quality with plastic backings. They can however sharpen a knife very sharp.
The real investment in a knife sharpening system is the stones. The stones make all the difference in the world and can be quite expensive.
I have more in stones than I do in the edge pro clone by far.

You can purchase a aluminum 1” x 3’ flat at lowes and cut into 6” pieces which will yield you 5 backings to glue the stones to, you lose a little material with each cut.

I used 3M 77 spray adhesive from lowes also. Cut your pieces and grind or cut a bevel to match the existing bevel and glue the stones on. You have a lot more choices by making your own.

Cold Steel Click n Cut, TAD Mummert eCutter( not too impressed with this- cuts into your finger in use.), Tokisu Naga ( really nice cleaver type Japanese knife ) All recent, Spyderco Meercat HAP 40 a few months ago and all from Heinnie Haynes.

Also three knife nick / knife openers by Rough Rider and Case.
My favourite this year though is a DPx HIT cutter a weird concept which just about works.
Used most is an Olfa 9mm 30 degree craft cutter with snap off blades. Ideal as a box cutter and envelope opener.
On its way from Amazon US is a Blackhawk Hawkhook + 3 DMT mini whetstone diamond sharpeners, course, fine and extra fine in a set- an absolute bargain for quality sharpener, cost more than double in the UK.
Good job I don’t spend much on Flashlights.

For sharpening I changed over to Diamond plates decades ago
Just use a small hand stone. (Ruby) for polishing blades.
I find the DMT plates best value for money and easy use
6in by 2 in seem to be the easiest for long stroking 6in plus blades.
Shorter ok for folders but these the better.
Mounted on a cheap sliding rod on stable base unit.
There are several avail on net.
Just practice on a cheap blade first for angles
and PRESSURE on the blade.
The cut the steel away rather rapidly if you not careful,
believe me.
Be careful with the cheap diamond plates,
they flex a lot and need mounting on a more rigid backing
to give decent sharpening angles.
I used to carry a small round axe stone for touching up in bush.
Hunting and skinning.
Oil soaked. But last 30+ yrs It’s been a small diamond pencil steel
for a MUCH better job.

I have a SOG in the mail its my second SOG in 30yrs. My first knife I ever purchased was a SOG Tomcat in 1991. It was made in Japan and very good quality made very well did some heavy work for many years. I lost it some 16yrs later sad day that was.
Well I never purchased another SOG because I think they lost there way and the quality was just not there anymore. SOG seemed to go down hill in a big way.
But now people are talking and what I am hearing and seeing sounds promising SOG could be back into making quality knifes again so I thought I would give them ago and I ordered the SOG Kiku XR.

The XR lock in this knife looks perfect for me fidget heaven. As I sit here now typing this I have an Artisan Cutlery Tomahawk right next to me which is my current fidget knife just love the feel of the roller bearings as I fidget with it. Yes I have a problem I love fidgeting with knifes especially while watching shows or YouTube vids it drives my wife insane.
But that blade the re-curve will test my stropping skills.

I hadn’t planned on buying any more D2 but the Petrified Fish 979 caught my eye. As some of you know, PF does one of the better heat treatments on Chinese D2. Picking up a coated model should hedge against corrosion. At the least, this could be a fun farewell for me on this steel.

Petrified Fish has been planning new models in 12C27 and 14C28N.
