What to do with extra SSR-90 leds?

I have a couple of extra SSR-90 leds on 20mm sinkpads. Actually I have 3. I been searching around for a good host to put them in but I haven’t decided on anything yet. I do have a HD2010, and a Smallsun XL-ZY-T08. Is there anymore that I havent come across that would be a super thrower for this led?

I wasn’t sure where to post this thread so if there is a more proper place please let me know!

Thanks everyone!

Ken

Haha! Im still finishing up my AK-90. I should have it finished by friday. This weekend is when I will do somthing with the SSR-90. If you do somthing before then chim in!

Ken

Cool, I wanna see this!

Come back when shes done please

I ended up using this: http://www.harborfreight.com/6-3-4-quarter-inch-109-led-flashlight-98506.html

I made an aluminum heatsink and used the existing AA battery holder. With 4 powerex 2700ma nimah, it will draw 8-9A. I am going to solder up a battery pack because I believe I can get a little more current without the battery holder it comes with. I am using a DX SSt-90 reflextor.

It was a quick throw together last night. I am impressed with it at 8-9A. Hopefully I can get near the 15A I want. My wires are a bit long from the led to the contact board too. I will shorten them up also.

One of these days I will figure out how to post pics. Haha!

The majority of the time I am posting from my phone. I will give it a shot sometime today. I suppose photobucket is a good choice?

BTW, very clean and nice work Horst Horstmann! I like it!

Just curious though on how come you run the positive wire through an extra hole and not just through that big hole already in the middle? Unless of course you’re running that longer coiled wire around the positive spring for extra resistance maybe I dunno.

Im using 20AWG tin coated silicone wire from sinkpad to contact board. The wires are pretty long like I said. They are probably 6 inches long each. I think my main resistance issue is in my 4AA battery holder. I have to say I was shocked to get the 8-9A current draw I was getting with the cheap battery holder. I read somewhere that these powerex 2700mah will discharge up to 3C. I dont know if thats true or not. I will be careful not to pop my emitter though. I already popped a 30.00 SSR-90 with a Panasonic 18650 in another light I built direct drive. Haha!

Ken

I havent measured voltage across the emitter. I will this eve though. I probably should just leave it as it is, but I like everyone else, always seam to want more! Haha!
