What Would You Do??

One of the most popular modders here placed an ad to to sell some of his creations. He sold most of them easily as he is a genius in modding lights but there was a couple he didn’t sell.

I sent him a PM saying I would take one of his creations that didn’t sell and he thanked me and said how to pay him. I paid him immediately and he said he would ship it right out and would send me a confirmation when he shipped it.

I waited for a few days but he was posting on these forums many times about his creations and adding to many threads every day and as always, everyone was thrilled.

I sent him another PM asking him if he had sent it and he said it he was having a hard time with his work schedule getting to the post office. I said no problem. My problem was he was always posting here and seemed to always time to do that!

Anyway, after 11 days I sent another PM asking him if he had shipped it and he FINALLY responded that he did. He seemed a little aggravated that I had to send him a PM asking if he had sent it.

I wouldn’t be posting this if I hadn’t noticed that he goes on these boards almost multiple times a day and again, he is so well respected but never sent me a notice that he had shipped the item.

Honestly I’d let it go, you paid and your getting the light. It may have took longer then expected but posting on here and getting somewhere with a busy work schedule are two different things. I post on here while at work a few times a day. But if I have to mail something I basically have to give up my lunch break to do it. (30 mins) my post office is closed on Saturday they deliver but office is closed.and people have life commitments as well. Kids wife health issues. And also when someone sells a bunch of lights it makes sense to send them all in one trip once everyone is paid up and not make multiple trips when it’s hard enough to go.
There’s only a few modders here that are of the caliber your describing. And none of them have ever ripped anyone off. I’ve dealt with a few of them.

If you ever wanted another great light from this modder I’d take down this thread. What I would do is not post of thread about it. I would have sent a pm and kept it private and said next time I buy a light from you could you let me know when it’s shipped so I know when to expect it.
He didn’t ignore your pm he said he was having a hard time getting to the post office. Did it cause a little aggravation for you possibly something to get upset or offended about. No not in my opinion. Had he ignored you for 11 days yes I might be a little aggravated. But I have patience with these things I have more then enough light. Maybe just me but people are to sensitive these days. When I send a light off to be modded I tell them take your time I’m OK if it takes you a couple or few weeks to get to it. Thanks for doing this for me. I know your busy. To me just because someone is capable of doing great mods doesn’t mean they have to for other people. I’m just a patient person when it comes to flashlights.

We discussed this fully in PM. I explained the situation to you about struggling to get to the post office before closing time that week due to the date the light was bought and the place I was working.

I’m sorry I didn’t put my life on hold, take time out from work to give you premium first class service to ship you a unique custom light that you paid £25 for, including international shipping and an extra couple of cells thrown in for the delay.

Sure I can post on the forum anytime I like from my phone taking five minutes out here and there.

I was slightly aggravated before, now I’m annoyed.

Opening a thread making it sound worse than it is when the situation is already discussed and dealt with, have a word with yourself…

Crx dude you don’t have to explain yourself to anyone. My signature says it all. People get upset on here now a days over nothing. I’d do business with you any day.

No problem I’ve seen you sell dozens and dozens of lights on here. In my opinion, if he had a issue with it. It should have stayed in private. Unless someone got burned for their money. How someone approaches a situation determines the outcome. Just a simple message saying hey next time I buy a light could you tell me when its shipped and it’s over and done with. No bridges burned

While the OP may reflect badly on the forum, the way in which it is responded to says more, and ridicule is very ugly. I hope this thread is removed very soon, and that forumites have some restraint until then and keep it civil.

Okay, I knew this would this happen. I was venting as all I received was silence. If I would have received just one PM stating he was having problems getting to the post, I would have been fine. He didn’t say anything until I PM’d him and even then I said no problem. Then a few days went by and still silence.

I don’t do business that way and I don’t expect others to either. Look, I apologize for my frustration and I apologize to CRX but when I immediately pay for something, I expect to at least be kept abreast of what is going on.

You folks can hate me all you want but I’ve been a good member here and have been honest in all my dealings. Again, apologies to all but I just wanted to hear what was happening.

CRX said he is shipping the light so case closed.

I normally would not take the time to post in this thread since it isn’t any of my business and it seems that everything is going to workout just fine in the end regardless, but after seeing this…

I just have to say that, Gebe, no one hates you. In fact, most members have’t even seen this thread. The ones who did, like me, probably thought this was, imperfect communication aside, much ado about nothing.

Much like the pain of child birth, a month from now when you are outside enjoying your new light, this will seem like nothing and CRX will have had time to reflect on the definition of “communication”.

Nothing was lost except a little bit of time. You guys should just say “bygones”, shake virtual hands, and forget all about this trivial incident without anyone feeling persecuted, embarrassed, shunned, or hated.

Because of who he is, I would have given him the benefit of the doubt.

Knowing CRX’s reputation here I wouldn’t have felt the need to start a thread on it. I would have just waited until I got a reply through PM, even if that took a few weeks. And again, that’s because he’s been around here forever and a year, and I’d know he wasn’t going to just up and disappear, but most of all I’d feel privileged to be able to own one of his one of a kind custom creations.

And I wouldn’t expect him to stop posting here because of a delay in getting something shipped out, one doesn’t effect the other. I wonder if you would have felt worse and complained if he WASN’T posting here, maybe then you’d have been even more worried!

Glad to see it got settled though, when you get the light let us know how thrilled you are with it. :beer:
