My first Emisar D18. With CSLPM1.TG (“W2”) and Anduril 2.
This thing bangs. After 5 seconds over 13000 lm (my sphere can’t manage more without changing the sensor config) and 120 kLux @ 1m. With VTC5A there is supposed to be even more possible, I have Samsung 30Q in there.
Interestingly, the tint is more neutral than bluish cold white, at 5400-5600 K, and is subjectively very pleasant. I’ve never seen that with CSLPM1.TG, they are usually more on the colder side. There is no annoying green tint.
D18 on the right, the good old M43 Meteor on the left. The M44 (center) actually has a longer battery tube.
The more throwy wall of light is almost impossible to capture properly, at least not in a confined space
The beam is like one of a OP reflector light, with some spill on the side.
The heat generated by the LEDs is also not really reasonable to handle, too many LEDs also in a small space
Do I prefer warm white (~2700K) because it’s creepy?
I think that really cool white (~6500K) with a green/blue/purple tint is creepier, but that’s just me.
Maybe for my own use, but in terms of movie lighting I think yellow=creepy. It’s more like candle-light or other low tech light sources.
To take it to an extreme, an LED flashlight that could sustain a 20k lumen output would make a lot of horror movies less scary. That could be an interesting thing to try to direct around though lol
How do gnomes get to be apparently ‘old’? Are gnomes just nice Trolls? Still creepy. Flashlight Freddie though, he seems to have a valuable tool.
Todays haul. F1 is gets hot zoomie. Forgot SC13 will be Anduril…oh well. Both lights have a pleasant beam Two cheap, small flippers. I’ll carry the green one to see.
It’s an interesting design that I haven’t seen mentioned on here before. It’s even got a Bluetooth connection for remote control via your mobile and the app gives access to more functions. A few of the features are a bit gimmicky (some are similar to Anduril functions- like candle mode, breathing light and RGB colour show) but others make it very useful including the ability to program your own modes, remotely turn it on/ off etc.
