A pleasure eh?
Received my third FFL today.
How do you like it?
Also got all the stuff to flash atiny13 chips.
A set of sponges, tweezers and an ipa bottle for cleaning boards.
Initially wondered if the 5000K was a mistake and I should have got 4000K, but just been out with it and the temp is great.
I go through stages of being ‘sensible’ about my lights and thinking I’ll stick to Sofirn and Wurkkos because they’re cheap, decent enough, and light comes out of the end. And I do the same with knives, sell off a few Spydercos that are gathering dust or whatever, in favour of cheaper makes I don’t mind abusing, they all cut stuff the same.
Then I get a FireFlyLite or a Lionsteel out and realise there’s that extra quality, a pleasure everytime it’s used. It’s got that quality, glad I got the wide beam optic too.
In your picture, it definitely looks cooler than 5000K.
Do you have an Opple?
How do you like the button placement? Seems like it would feel weird
That’s moonlight, not really representative, it’s a pretty true neutral in use. This pic was from earlier, and again looks cooler than it is because there’s a heavy dew on the grass. But you’ll see the tree looks about right. The iPhone did that long exposure thing too, I get bad pics when that happens.
@worrub918 the switch sits nicely for a thumb to press compared to reaching on top, easily activated in a pocket so needs locking out.
Edit: The picture won’t load, sticks at 18% all the time ![]()
Thanks! I’ve been holding back on this light because of the button placement.
Thats one burly looking light.
It’s fine. Works well in the headband, normally an end switch means the lamp needs bracing so the headband doesn’t slide. This, it can be pinched between thumb and forefinger.
Here’s a natural thumb position.
Awesome! Thanks
Yeah. The build quality is amazing. The tint is great, a bit off my sweet spot, but I was ready for that.
Nothing yet, but I’m hopeful UPS will make good on their estimate.
Just received my bead blasted Manker E05 ii in neutral white. Very nicely made light, and looks fantastic. UI is a little finicky, and as stated in most reviews the mode spacing could certainly be better. I’m sure I’ll get used to it. I like the large hot spot with decent spill . For some reason I can’t seem to post pictures on this site anymore. Anytime I’ve tried over the past few weeks it tells me the file is too large?? Never done that before.
Another observation on the FireFlies L50 Sol. Pocket clips across the board on FFL are rubbish and this is the worst yet.
Much fuss is made about pocket clips on the KR1AA and D3AA but nobody mentions FireFlyLite. The thickness of the steel is the same as the comparatively tiny KR1AA at around 0.75mm. No grip whatsoever, it easily slides out of a shirt pocket when tying a lace.
It’s a shame with this light, the knurling coupled with a strong, springy clip would add a lot of versatility because I won’t be using it as a head torch in the accompanying strap (also not likely to be a crowd pleaser with its rubber rings).
Nice
I finally got a TS10 SG. I have several regular TS10, including some converted to singles, but couldn’t resist the sale and was curious about the lens.
The throw isn’t bad, but I want more. I checked my parts bins and have an idea. I think a 26mm narrow spot TIR should do nicely.

Quick measurements on a not-full battery, stock about 18,000 cd. With this 26mm TIR held in place by hand: 90,000 cd. Now just need to make it all work. Hopefully I’ll find some time and have an update to post over in the mod thread in a week or two.
