Okay so I took my first shot at building a few P60 drop in and have got confusing and undesirable results. I ended up making 2 completely from scratch and just replaced the driver in one. I Am using the kd V2 3A driver (i bought a 5pack off KD)
First one I built from scratch it turned out the best other than i really hate 4k tint I found out. It is a xml-t6 and I soldered bridges on the driver to make it a 3mode(H-M-Flash) without memory(s1 is NOT soldered) now the 2 issues I’m having with it are
1. tailcap reading seem low considering these are 3A drivers. (all the other xml single cell flashlights I have pull around 2-2.2A on high)
XML-T6 w/kd v2
high 1.8A
med-.45A
2. The flashlight starts in random modes. I don’t have S1 bridged so I was under the impression that the flashlight should always start in the same mode given that it is turned off for more than 2sec.(i always turn it off on high and it will usually come on in medium, sometimes blinky mode, and rarely it will come back on in high)
The second P60 I made is a XM-L2 with KD driver no bridges at all. it seems to work as intended but the currents seem low again.
XM-L2 w/kd v2
H-.85A
M-…41A
L-.12A
The 3rd P60 was just a replacement of the driver on one of the many U2 drop in i got with a big order of 501 I ordered. The original driver would sometimes turn on when power was applied sometimes not. When it would work it would pull 2.2A(tailcap)
I again replaced it with the same KD driver as the others and didnt bridge any contacts. The problem with this one is that I only have one mode (low) when it should be L-M-H-L-M-H-AUX-AUX-AUX-AUX
XML-U2 w/ KD driver
.135A
Anyone care to shed some light on what I did or is happening here.
