that came with my laptop? I bought a new Toshiba C50 Satellite laptop this summer directly from Toshiba, and primarily use it at home with it connected to AC power. There was a suggestion that popped up after I had it for about 2 months to change the power setting to prolong the battery life, and the battery died shortly after I made this change. I’m not the only one with this problem, and apparently it’s been going on for a while. I ended up getting a new replacement battery to use in the laptop, and was told to take the old battery to a place that accepts them for recycling. Aside from wanting to know what caused the original battery pack to fail, I’d like to find out if the original batteries would be good for anything or if should just take the pack in for recycling somewhere.
Be careful and watch out for shorting out the Parallel banks of cells. Recycle the cells that test out NFG, keep the good ones.
Worst case? you have some techie fun before recycling.
Post what you find!
to open the case? I can see the seam lines, but they look like they’re glued together.
This is probably older and smaller but might give you an idea.
Careful use of Heat gun / Hair Dryer along the seams, and then pry open carefully.
Don’t try to tear it apart piece by piece like I did. It takes way too long, and you’ll end up denting a few cells.
I have used a small terminal strip screwdriver to pry along the seams and a pair of small wire cutters to cut the tabs and wires.
