What's the best low CCT LH351D available?

I’m looking to buy a fairly large number of LH351Ds due to their cheap cost and good efficiency, and I need some part number recommendations. These are going into a custom lightbar for my vehicle, so CRI isn’t the highest priority, but I’d like to have something below BBL if possible. From what I’ve read it sounds like the neutral ones are hit or miss on the tint. I’ve narrowed it down to the following P/Ns from Digikey, but I can’t decide which way to go. Any recommendations?

SPHWHTL3DA0GF4WPN6 - 2700k, 90CRI
SPHWHTL3DA0EF4WMS6 - 2700k, 80CRI
SPHWHTL3DA0GF4VMP6 - 3000k, 90CRI
SPHWHTL3DA0EF4VMU6 - 3000k, 80CRI
SPHWHTL3DA0GF4UMN6 - 3500k, 90CRI
SPHWHTL3DA0EF4UPR6 - 3500k, 80CRI

I can’t answer your question but you might be able to save some money ordering LEDs from Wurkkos instead of Digikey.
There’s no import fee’s, no tax and free shipping when you spend above $22-$23 and they have killer prices:

The 519A 5000K dedomed would most certainly be below BBL but I’m not sure if that would be warm enough for you.

If CRI does not matter, I would pick a lower CRI emitter. You lose a lot of efficiency in return for 90 CRI - if those are not needed, there is better LEDs.

For your application, I would think 80CRI would be a good compromise.

I’ve had good luck with LH351D’s from DigiKey. Most have been slightly positive duv but are very close to 0 when shaved at ~1.2mm. If that is an option, keep in mind that the CCT drops ~10% when shaved.

If shaving isn’t an option, I’d consider a tint mix of 2700k and 5000k to bring the duv down.

Some lots are better than others and I recommend a smaller order with a few to test before placing a quantity order.

I was told by Digikey that when I order leds they can look at the reel and tell me the chromaticity bin. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem possible to find out the bin prior to ording though, which would obviously be better.

Tint mix seems like a great idea. Maybe 70% 2700K, 30% 5000K to make it a little warmer

@INeedMoreLumens That’s good to know. $1.28 is not bad at all for 519a, that’s close enough in price to consider. Looks like Simon’s store currently has a deal on 519a for 1$ apiece, but you’re limited to quantity of 10.

@merlot What would the advantage be to using two CCT’s instead of one? Does this get you better CRI?

Another idea that just popped into my head - would mixing in a few 660nm emitters make it more eye pleasing, assuming perfect blending?

It lowers the DUV and should bring it below BBL

Red emitters have a much lower vF so you’d need to drive them separately from the white emitters.

Do you have a link?
This is what I’m seeing:

Guess I misspoke, $1 for 1 piece, for 10 I’m seeing $16.21

I’m seeing $5.75 for 1.

I think the $1 is the “AliExpress Welcome Price” for new customers.

Since I’m running off of 12V supply, I could pretty easily put one red in series with 4 white emitters, and could get away with a linear driver… But I’m still not sure if this is a ‘thing’ or not.

On second thought, looks like there aren’t any red emitters that are rated higher than 1.5A, so I’d be underdriving the white quite a bit if I put them in series.

I’ve asked Digikey a couple of times in the past about the color bin of a few part number and they replied with the info.

In graphical terms, the following happens:

Personally, I’d go with CCT mix to reach your desired CCT/-DUV, rather than trying to mess with mixing in red LEDs.

If you went with 519a, you could de-dome them for more throw, but the DUV may be unacceptably low once mixed.
