When one song sounds like another.

Lonely in love

Has sounds from other songs like

It wouldn't have made any difference..

I've been dreaming

Selena

Does it make you crazy when you hear parts of a song in another song ?

What about this ringtone? Can you figure out what the song is ?

I listen to Metal only, no crappy pop music :confounded: .

Chicago’s 25 or 6 to 4 sounds like an homage The Beatles’ While My Guitar Gently Weeps

ETA: Can’t forget that nobody was surprised that Ray Parker Jr.‘s Ghostbusters sounded just a wee bit like Huey Lewis’ I Want a New Drug.

lots of songs sound similar in some respect

most of rock and roll uses a pattern called ‘the 12 bar blues’.

that doesn;t make it bad.

Pocol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade of Pale”

Is a shameless interpretation of Bach’s “Air on the G String”

My guess for the ringtone

well, only 88 keys on the piano.
there has to be some duplication of efforts.

the songs/music i hear which all sound the same
are auto-tune/computer generated types.

reminds me of music-on-hold or
“your call is very important to us”.

I clicked on that Selena video above. I then listened to 30 seconds of it to teach myself a lesson. Never again.

it’s just bland and rhythmless

try dua lipa, just one song “Levitating”

or this one

And then you’ve got Green Day’s “Brain Stew” which is a fairly blatant ripoff of 25 or 6 to 4.

The problem in the last few decades has been the catastrophic overuse of the same 6-4-1-5 chord progression. It’s in EVERYTHING.

Sounds like Matallica.

I think it’s positively eerie how much “The ABC Song” sounds like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.

Have you ever heard Hayden’s 94th (The Surprise Symphony)? Creepy.

Just wait until you hear how much Hello Muddah, Hello Fadda (A Letter From Camp) sounds like Amilcare Ponchielli’s Dance of the Hours.

“All By Myself,” the popular 70’s anthem by Eric Carmen, is based on the 2nd movement of Sergei Rachmoninoff’s Concerto For Piano No. 2 in C Minor. Songwriters often borrow from other songwriters. In some cases it’s very obvious, as in the above example. In others, it’s more piecemeal and subtle.

Yeah, Weird Al’s My Bologna and Another One Rides the Bus sound really familiar, too. I just can’t quite figure out why.
