Where can i get XPG2, XML2 and Nichia on 16mm Boards?

I want to mod some drop-in and some EDC and i need Nichia 219, XML2 and XPG2 on 16mm round board. Anyone knows where to get them?

If you have soldering iron, you can reflow them yourself, they are ultra-easy to do (I did 4 triple-LED stars yesterday which is 3x more hard with no issues)…

It is a pain to get the right leds on 16mm boards.

Intl-outdoor.com had some XP-G2's and XM-L2's on 16mm boards but were sold out soon (I think they just wanted to be the first to sell them for promotional reasons and don't care for keeping them in stock), cnqualitygoods.com has some very cool white XM-L2's on 16mm boards at the moment, and XP-G2 in cool and 3C also on 16mm (not sold out yet I believe), Illuminationsupply.com has both XM-L2, XP-G2 and Nichia219's on too thick 10mm, on 20mm, and bare but they don't do 16mm boards for some reason. I ended up reflowing myself as well (it is easy to get bare 16mm boards, dx has them and Ill.supply also)

Don't like Cutter for their shipping fees, leddna and led-tech have a very limited (cool) selection.

Cnqualitygoods is the best bet at the moment I guess

Thanks everyone for the advices. I follow the suggestion of djozz and i found XPG2 and XML2 on 16mm board… The problem is Nichia Led… I think i will buy mcpcb, bare emitter and try to reflow.

The XP-G2 3C from cnqualitygoods cost 5$, so decent price for that tint. But the text does not say anything about bin. Description says: “402 lumens at max current 1.5A”
That makes me think it is not better than a GP-G2 Q5 BIN. Which is not impressive. Id rather get a decent bin XP-G instead.

I dont see the point of buying XM-L2 when its T6 and cool white. You could just buy XM-L U3 from fasttech at a lower price.

I guess the reason why cnqualitygoods still have them in stock is due to low bins, which does not make them better than 1.gen XP-G and XM-Ls in my eyes…

I have not done your calculation, it is too bad if the bins are poor at cnqg. But I'd still go for the XP-G2 because they can be driven harder than the old XP-G, and throw a bit better.

Using your numbers: given that XP-G2 is binned at 85 deg Celsius which means it is 20 brighter at 25 deg, a Q5 XP-G2 more or less corresponds to a R5 bin in the old XP-G.

Scaru's numbers for the XPG2* are adjusted by 13%** to make it easier to compare binning for the XPG2 to the XPG as well as other emitters binned at 25C. They are not what Cree lists in their spec sheets.

I'm pretty sure that CNQ used Cree's specs, and not Scaru's. So, by Cree's specs, an XPG2 that produces 402 lumens min at 1.5A would be R3 brightness bin.

If CNQ listed the correct specs on its page, its XPG2 3C should be R3 emitters. However, I doubt that this is the case. CNQ also lists XPG2 1A emitters with 402lm @ 1.5A listed as the output which would also make them R3 emitters, and I'm not sure if Cree even makes XPG2 1A in R3 bin (do they?). To make things even more suspect, CNQ uses the same photo for both listings, and the photo is of XPG2 2B R5 emitters.

I think the only safe thing to assume is that the info on CNQ's listing might not represent what they have in stock.

Yep, you're right there. I've been thinking about adjusting it to what is in the datasheet to make it easier for cases like this. Or I could just add both. What do you think?

I think your post is fine as is. Your notes explain the 13%* thing and reference the Flashlightwiki article. I think most people understand the difference.

It's not your fault if some of us just scan the numbers instead of actually reading the notes in the post.

*I get it now. The 13% difference comes from Cree's datasheet. The "flux characteristics" chart on page 2 of the XPG2 datasheet lists the flux at 350mA at both 85C and 25C, and the difference is 13%.

Does anyone notice that the photo says R5 2B, which at CNQ was never sold as fas as I know.
