I don’t think the cheap supply chains from China ever recovered after COVID. Not long before I could hop onto any of the Chinese retailers and buy vials cheap, now, yeah they’re not so common.
Trits look cool, but I’ve never installed them on any lights.
- With so many lights having aux leds, the value of trits is diminished.
- They dim over time.
- They may emit a small amount of radiation.
- They are expensive.
- I checked the law a few years ago on this and concluded that it is not legal to carry them on airplanes in the USA. I might not be able to travel with any light I stick trits in.
If you search or screenwatch the keywords enough, your mainstream OS should pick up on it and try to lead you to some sites. Then your router (unless you just have a wifi access point) will be flagged as “targeted ads for trits”, and all IP associated browsers (all your home devices) will eventually try to spit out sites, even those that are sold out. Vpn’s won’t help either, “they” are logging hardware ID’s amd stuff too.
I could be wrong, but I assumed the reduction in availability was due to tightening of supplies given half the world switched off their nuclear power stations…
Last I checked, tritium is most expensive material by mass, so it’s not surprising these things are expensive.
For me, the increased availability of very high quality, reasonably priced, strontium aluminate photoluminescent material in a range of colours, has largely made my need for tritium vials redundant.
I don’t think They™ want all kinds of nuculer stuff going on planes.
They only emit beta particles (ie, nekkid electrons) but might trigger false positives for those newfangled Nuculer Stuff Detectors.

It’s a cost effective long lasting Glow in the dark powder compound. Up to 24 hours if properly charged, i.e. a quick UV blast. Technoglow(not sure of spelling) offers the stuff.

The CountyComm tape is pretty good, they don’t advertise any specification though.
Technoglow tape has superior glow but is thicker and has more of a green colour in daylight.
AliExpress tape is hit and miss.
The strontium aluminate powders are pretty good mixed with 2 part epoxy or UV resin.
What about watches? Traser, Luminox, ProTek Dive Series 1005?
