where is the xml2 4c

So we have XML t6 4c which is a great tint. Closest I have seen is the t4 5b1 xml2. However being a t4 means its about as bright. Since we have t5 5c1, shouldn’t there be a t6 4c xml2?

I’ll likely buy some more t4 5b1, but I really want more output……

There is (officially) no such thing as T6 bin for 4C tint (about 4500K) Neither for XM-L or XM-L2.
Fast-techs distributor are the only one who have had “access” to that emitter it seems. Most likely they made it up!
T5 4C is much more likely… Yes, I am aware of your ceiling bounce. But still…

If you check the LED database (see my signature, and sort so that you see all XM-L2s) you will see that Mouser sell XM-L2 T5 4500K emitter. About the same Kelvin as 4C.
I just updated the price. 8.16$. It was advertised below 7$ before…
Here is the direct link
They also have 4C in T4 bin for a cheaper price… 6,14$ (not added in the database)

So far I have not seen any XM-L2 4C emitters from the more typical low shipping price/free shipping stores. Its just very recently 5C and such tints have gotten available. It will probably take time before we see more of the XM-L2 range become available. XM-L2 is still considered a new emitters by most.

If you want more output than (80+ CRI) T4 5B1 it seems you will either have to buy T5 5C from Illumination supply, or T6 3C unless you order T5 4500K emitter from Mouser. Or wait around for days or maybe a year or more, until T5 4C becomes available from other vendors…
I would not bother waiting for a T6 4C… Most likely, its not real. Its not listed in the Cree datasheet, nor have it been sold by any of the trustworthy vendors or flashlight makers. At least, Im not aware of it…

If you want more output combined with decent tint, there is always the solution of adding more current (combined with copper mcpcb)! J)

The XML2/T6/3C LEDs that I have been getting from Illumination Supply have been measuring around 4500K +/- 100K They have a very nice tint for a CREE LED.

The 3c xml2’s i bought feel too yellow for me…… Not really a fan.

The 4C will be even more yellow…

The FT T6 4C’s that I have appear to have more red in the light. Both my wive and I like the 4C better. Not sure how else to describe it……to my eyes the 3C is just a 1C with yellow added, while the 4C has red as well.

Maybe I’ll post beamshots comparing my XML2 3C, 5C1, 5B1, and XML T6 4C.

It won’t match the output of a Cree XM-L2 but if tint is the name of the game and you like the rosier color of the 4C then you will LOVE the Nichia 219!

By my eyes the XML T6 4C is the smae brightness s my XML2 T4 5B1, and the tint is really really close.

If I have time tonight when it gets dark I’ll take some pics comparing them along with the T5 5C1.

I need to order some more 5B1’s from IO before I can compare relative brightness at same current though….the 3 5B1’s I have are in a TR 3T6 right now

Two 4C XM-Ls I got from FT are different in colour from a few 4C XP-G LEDs i got from intl outdoor some months earlier. The IO 4Cs seem to be the exact colour as the FT, 5C XML I received in a Convoy S2.

The FT 4Cs are a nice ‘vanilla’-off white colour which still falls in the neutral white category and is pleasingly warmer than any 3C tinted LED i’ve bought in the past. The tint has a little more red and yellow than a typical 3C resulting in the 3C looking green next to it. In comparison to the S2, 5C, the 4C looks a little green and the 3C looks sick… WRT output, I dont’ have a light meter but eyeballing it with a roof bounce test, it appears a very small amount dimmer than other 3C XM-Ls. The colour however makes up for any light loss.

I agree that the color is great.

I have 3 of the T6 4C’s, and none of them are identical. One has more red, one in the middle, and one feels closer to a NW with no color bias. Hard to describe.

XM-L2 T5 4C here.

Woot!
Must be new, didn’t see them yesterday.

Nope just arrived! Speaking about the sun huh!

That 4C is nice, but another new one is the 5D2, which is the most perfect tint ever (and that is not a matter of opinion) and it is 80 CRI too.

I don’t like the XML-2 T6 3C I got from IS. They are a bit yellower/greener than my XML T6 3C.

I’ve tried the XML-2 T5 4000k from mouser and it’s pretty nice. It definitely has a yellow tint to it but it’s not “green” and I really like the slight yellow. Color rendering is really good. I just ordered 3 XML-2 T5 4000k from IS for a triple build.

I am going to try out the XML-2 T5 4500k next as it will probably be a good blend of the T6 without the slight yellow of the T5 4000k.

I’ve also tried the XML-2 3000k 90CRI and while it’s pretty nice, the color is too yellow for me. I wish it had a bit more red so the tint was more orange than yellow. Still pretty nice as a tailstand/outdoor light though.

Ah, another XML2 with 80+CRI, so it begs the question, how does this 5D2 compare to the 219?

EDIT: I’d love to see a 5A1 or 5A4, I need to have a hint of rose in my tints.
