Where to buy a green XPE R2

Hi

Just got my first light, an Ultrafire WF 501B 150lm 800mA, last night from dx and I was impressed with the throw for the price. The light will be used on an air rifle / rimfire with a converging lens for vermin control.

I haven't even had it 24hrs and I want to start modifying. From what I have read, the XPE R2 appears to be the best green led for the WF 501B for throw with a converging lens. But I can't find an XPE R2 in green - XPEGRN-L1-0000-00E01 - R2 114lm @ 350mA, 1A max. From the data sheet, it should put out about 220/230lm @ 1A if I've read it correctly. This may not be a great improvement, but I'm hoping this low cost project will give me a bit of experience and the confidence to move onto bigger projects. Any suggestions where to get this LED would be appreciated.

Would you change the driver on the WF 501B to get the full 1A and if so what to?. Stupid question, I suppose you would.

I'm tempted to get a Jacob A60 and put a green XPE R2 in that as well just to see the difference. I'm getting hooked!

Many thanks in advance.

Not sure on the bin but but I can confirm it is plenty bright and throws really well in my 501B

I also have a similar light as the one you got from DX, I’ll see if I can get some beamshots for you to compare.

Mouse over for XPE at ~1.4A and mouse out for XRE at ~1A

Green XP-E in Q5 Bin. Not sure Green is actually available in R2.

Good Ole Mouser

Big difference. I thought the XRE was reasonable in that it could light up a fence post at 60 yrds.

I did see the Q5 at mouser, but the postage brings it up to $24.42 / £15.69 which makes it twice the price of the 501B. I was hoping I could get it cheap from China.

Illuminationsupply has pretty cheap shipping

Yep, it looks like I'm going to give Illuminationsupply a try.

Got a reply from Illuminationsupply

"These are R5, XPEGRN-L1-0000-00D01."

so I guess they are Q5.

Ordered 2.

Thanks for your help, very much appreciated.
