which 26650 cells to buy?

Looking for reasonably priced but reliable. I’ve never used lithium cells before. Charger will probably be a Xtar WP2 II

I’d go with king Kong’s from fasttech, pair for around $17 shipped.

Trustfire 5000mah protected $16.46, $15.80 or so with BLF-couponcode, also at fasttech.

I’ve got King Kongs INR from Int’l Outdoor. Quite happy with them, although don’t have any other to compare too. 4Sevens also sell some that’d I buy.

Personally I wouldn’t touch anything Trustfire unless you have too. I’ve got some Trustfire flames 14500’s and to be fair they are pretty crap.

I picked up some King Kong IRC at Orbtronic. They just got these in. They were 11.99 free shipping and I got them in 3 days. These have worked great in my EL Big Bruiser.

If you’ve never used them before, I’d say the safe bet would be to get the Trustfire 26650 Protected cells. They will fit in any light designed for 26650 cells, and are button tops so they work in single cell configuration or in series perfectly. Also, the 4Sevens cells are good, but the material the button top is made of tends to deform or flatten easily if used in a light with a stiff +B spring on the driver.

Once the button top becomes flattened, they will not work in series anymore.

I think Trustfires are great if you need protected cells. Real capasity can be a bit off a hit/miss, most of my samples are about 4000mAh and couple units are about 3400-3500mAh (tested at 1A). Non of my cells is even close to specified 5000mA. Large current capability might not be perfect on these either.

For non-protected cells I’d only think about which King Kong to get (ICR or INR chemistry, flat top or button top). Capasity on my cells has been as promised and capability at large currents are more than good enough for my flashlights.

I dont see King Kongs at fasttech but they have Soshine.

Here ya go. They don't come up when searching 26650.

Have them, reviewed them, recommended.

Read the reviews people.

+1

huh… so i could of had some king kongs for the same price i spent on my flames from FT… thats a downer
fasttech needs to fix that flaw in the search lol

2 for $30, although if you're placing a larger order, contact them first ;)

If I go for unprotected King Kongs from FastTech what precautions should I take safety-wise? I’ll probably be charging in a Xtar SP2.

Any suggestions for high current cells? Currently I have MNKE 26650 IMRs, but is there something else? I’ve seen the ebay MOLI cells and read they are most likely legit, but might be pack pulls and not the newest cells. Where to get good IMR cells for a good price?
