Which 3A driver for XML and 3x 3.7 Li ion batteries.

Which 3A driver for XML and 3x 3.7 Li ion batteries in a 3D mag.

Not too bothered what modes single or multi mode.

I’ve used this driver a few times now and I do really like it.

I have only used it at 8.4v max but the description says it can run three d size li ion cells.

How much room do you have?
I like the 3T6 driver a lot it is in stock form a bit big, 5 mode, 4.5A(resistor mod possible) and works between 5 and 13 Volts…

This is the driver I already have from the same source and having problems with it.

The problems are when on high it switches to low power after only a few mins as it gets very hot.

It is not potted or heatsinked as I have very little room in the 3D rebel Maglite.

I have used this one lck-led.com - Informationen zum Thema lck led. in a defiant 3C driving a XM-L2 to 5 amps at the emitter with a copper sink pad and 2 18650’s. I haven’t tested 3 18650’s but it should work. Seems like there was a thread about this driver some where with some current mods. It says 3 modes H,M,L but mine has 5 modes with the D strobes. :frowning:
No issues with heat that I have seen.

Would that be ok driving a single XML-Led and using 3x D cell li ion batteries ?

try using two 32650 cells and a spacer and see if it still overheats, all five of mine work fine buy they are all two cell.

I have a 2D Maglite also and that does the same thing goes to low power after just a few minute’s and that’s with 25650 and Feilong 32650s with the 3A driver as above from LCK-led.

I have also tried the driver outside the Mag and it does get HOT too hot to touch.

The XM-L should handle 5 amps just fine with a copper mcpcb and a decent heat sink behind it. I have never tested the driver with 3 li-ions, I have read where others say it works fine from 3 li-ions. The driver’s sense resistors can be change to give less current if you would like a lower current. I potted the driver in the heat sink and have never had a heat issue. Another member had one running a MT-G2 without issues. Most refer to this driver as the FL-2. LCK-LED maybe be able to lower the current before they ship, shot them a email and see what they say. This is what it states on their web page.
“Constant current: 1-7A (you can select the configuration, you need other current, please leave a message) suggested that the best 5A below.”

I use H2AA heatsinks as below from CPF so should be fine.

Not sure why these Drivers I am using are over heating as I have had some in the past maybe 5 and never had a problem.

I have also seen members comment theirs work fine, others say they have a problem. Could be a bad patch going around.
Did you heat sink the driver or pot it in the heat sink?

Thanks for the quick reply and I have never potted any no just left inside the Maglite body.

Is this the same driver you have?

Looks pretty much the same but I bought mine from HERE

If its the same driver as the KD driver, they have been around for several years. Some have problems, some don’t.
If you do a little searching for the KD super output driver you should find some info.

I can not say it is the same driver mate but looks very alike.

I need a 3A one to replace the ones I have and unsure where to buy as all seam to be for single li ion barrery configurations only.

Just get a taskled h6cc and forget all of your problems.

I would love one mate but well over my budget and the Maglite I have built for a mate he wouldn’t want to pay that neither.

But I agree with you fully if money was no object like the De Wichel one on CPF

Still looking for a 3A driver not to high as it needs to fit a rebel mag.

Might find something you like here.
