I have a Thorfire TG06S which is dang near the perfect light for me. Runs on 1xAA for easy batteries or 14500 for max output. Great brightness, emitter is a cool white and while I prefer neutrals this one is OK. Switch could be a forward clicky, but not a deal breaker. Maybe I will look for a forward clicky to hold in spare parts. Problem is that it has too many dang modes. Something like 4 modes, and fairly closely spaced. Ideally I would like to maintain the AA/14500 compatibility but I want a max output mode consistent with stock (150lm AA, 500lm 14500 as rated by Thorfire) and two more modes like in the 30lm and 1lm ranges. UI could be L-M-H or H-M-L or M-H-L as long as its not memory. Are there ANY drivers out there that can fill this niche? Looks like it runs 17mm driver board, I havent taken mine apart but I found a review (here, I believe) which did.
There isn’t a great variety of Alkaline/NiMH/LiIon drivers.
Have you looked at the Sofirn SF14 to see if its modes suit you better than those of the TG06S?
I’m with eas. The SF14 (in my pocket as we speak, my new EDC) has 3 well spaced modes and works with AA and 14500. Rated output in high is 600 lumens, I measured 700. It’s L-M-H without memory. The tint is neutral-ish (~5300K). Great little light!
In general, Sofirns use NW emitters, I prefer a bit warmer, but these are nice and paper-white.
So… I’m not sure if you can get a SF14 driver from Sofirn (on AX), but I got a few SP10x drivers to try to repair a TK05 when I thought it was the driver on the fritz (actually a loose LED, go figure).
There are parts for the C8 series, etc., so it wouldn’t surprise me if they have the drivers for a SF14. Lotta Thorfire and Sofirn lights are almost clones of each other, mechanically speaking, so the drivers should fit.
Now… If you’re looking for another light vs just a driver, the SP10B which is now the new SP10A (my head hurts already…) has a lot of what you’re looking for. Normal cycle is firefly/low/medium, 2click to high, 3click to strobe, 4click to lockout.
High can be gotten to from anywhere, even off(!), and clicking again reverts to the last mode (even off!). Firefly is true firefly, not moonlight, so if you just want to check your watch in the dark, this is the one to use. Strobe is a tripleclick away, so nice and hidden from normal accidental use, enough to forget it’s even there. 
The old SP10A was low/med/high only, 2click to strobe. Basic modes, simpler to use, great for muggles. My gf is definitely not a flashlight “enthusiast”, yet she loves it.
