Which flashlight??

I’m in the market for a new flashlight. I am looking for something with 600m + throw. I have a large farm and want a light that will help me see what’s lurking around when I let my dogs out and just for the hell of it. I’ve been looking at few lights and just don’t know which one is the best choice. Also battery and charger recommendations would be appreciated. Or any other lights not listed that would be recommended.

The Thrunite TN42 is worth a look for a larger thrower. I’d strongly recommend getting it in neutral white. It has a larger reflector and lower driver current than the K70, so it won’t get hot as fast; it has a boost driver for stable output as the batteries drain, while the K70 loses output as the batteries drain and it has a neutral white color temperature, which may[^1] reduce backscatter, making the target more visible. Try coupon code “20%”, and failing that “thrunite”.

On the compact side, the Emisar D1 is cost-effective and one of the most powerful throwers running on a single 18650. I suggest the 5D tint option, again due to backscatter.

I’ve reviewed a couple recent Klarus XT-series lights and have to recommend against them. The biggest issue is visible PWM flicker in lower modes, but they’re also a bit… meh otherwise. Here’s my review of the XT12S.

I wouldn’t recommend it. More expensive than the regular TN42, and you can’t quickly swap the cells when they are empty, and then you will have to buy an expensive battery pack when this one dies.

I’m not familiar with the lights you listed, but the Convoy L2 is the Queen Of Throw for the most part. Nice tight pencil-beam that reaches right out waaaaay far, so much so that they kinda became a pair of Shelf Queens for me here (yeah, I got 2), because I got nothing so far out where I’d need the L2 over any other light.

Takes 1 or 2 26650s (or 18650s using sleeves), so you can go short or long on a whim.

Klarus XT12GT

I would recommend the Astrolux C8 over the Klarus XT12GT. I have both the C8 and the XT12GT and can say that if I could go back I would have just got the C8. The C8 throws 639meters and has the BLF A6 driver and is half the price of the XT12GT.

Definatly consider this if your final choice is on the XT12GT.

I recommend the Convoy L6 it has the CREE XHP70 emitter and throws around 600m. The L6 has a good balance between throw and flood so you can see a good amount of foreground aswell as into the distance.

I would say that needing a throw over 600m for spotting small animals or other things is questionable as you probably cant see in much detail further than that anyway

If you are looking for a smaller light to holster/pocket carry, then the Acebeam L16 is a great light. Check all of the reviews, and you will see mostly all the reviews are positive.
The Acebeam K65 is a much larger light, but throws further with a brighter beam.

I recommend thrunite tn40s. Quad xpl hi cool white. $170. With the coupon code thrunite, $161.45. This light will give you 4400 lumen and 1151 meters throw. So you get both lumen and throw in the same light.

Tn42 is a great light also… it is mainly build for thrower light…

Imma say either the haikelite mto7s buffalo 5000 lumens like 900 meters of throw. 4s driver so it always has enough voltage to provide 5000 lumens until batteries are discharge. Or mentioned above the mf02 throws further then you can see at 2000+ lumens.
Also mentioned above is the convoy l2 I built one a few weeks back with the mtn buck driver with the coilcraft upgrade,spring bypasses, dedomed xpl v6 1a and 6 amp buck driver. I kept mine in the 2 series configuration. Thing is bright as hell. And shines further then I can see. The beam is tight and opens up nicely over a few hundred yards. For even more could go with the dedomed xpg2 for a real pencil beam. But the xpl beam is more then tight enough for my uses. 600 yards it can do with its eyes closed. But for the money it takes to build that. The mf02 is 80 dollars and the haikelite is 55. With the discount code the buffalo and mf02 are hard to beat for a out the box light.

Also wanted to mention if you didn’t know. When a light says 600 yards of throw it means to. .25 Lux or what moonlight is. It’s a good rule of thumb to take that number and divide by half if you want usable light it may light up a reflector or put some light out at 500 yards but you probably won’t be able to make it out. If you want to actually see 600 yards I’d go with something around 1000 yards of throw roughly

I went ahead and ordered a Thrunite Catapult V6. I figured I would give it a try and go from there. I definitely plan on purchasing more flashlights. Guess I’ve been bite by the flashlight bug. Thanks again for all of the input and information
