hi, guys, we all know like gazzilion different models of “tactical” or “diving” or “search and rescue” flashlights but does anyone have first hand info of what those special services really use in real life?
The cops still use either Mags or Streamlights, or Surefires. I would guess the army uses many of the mainline brands.
Guess the main brands too. But I also guess it depends on the country? I think the Russian cops still use this?? 0:) http://www.nitro-pak.com/russian-dynamo-flashlight
I’ve been to one rescue action from a mine (my friend was rescued ) and was surprised, that the police had one fenix tk70! firefighters used some sealed lights with big tir and possibly luxeon emitter - quite nice throwers
they were all blown by some of our lights too
I’m from South Australia and our state Police have been issued with “Wolf-Eyes” units called “Pro Police” for several months.
They are not personal issue, the officers collect/obtain them at the start of their shift from the units provided to the individual stations. I guess these units must be considered to be quite “strong” given that they are “pool” equipment.

Gladius was one authorised for British Special forces. But a lot of glowsticks were used
The Maxa Beam for S&R
since you mentioned this…i wonder which one is better buy
Police here are issued Pelican7060led
Our firefighters use Pelican most the time, and occasionally Streamlight
Here in india, mostly brightlight is being used by cops.
Used M@Gs, or Streamlights. Local cops use M@Gs, county too. State and SWATs use M@Gs & Surefires
What I see here, my friend (small-town cop) uses an incan Streamlight for belt carry and a larger incan streamlight with about 3x 5mm LEDs for a low mode in the vehicle.
Most of the cops I know buy their own flashlights since the ones that they get are junk. If memory serves, they are mostly Streamlights or Mags. Once they buy their own flashlights, they are required to provide their own batteries ie CR123A or 18650 batts for their Fenix TK21 for example.
I was issued a Pelican light for my shotgun. I found it to be so inappropriate (yes ‘junk’ would be a good term), I now keep a variety of my own weaver mount compatible hosts in my duty bag to use depending on the circumstances and time of year, although I tend to like the M1 with a T4 in it. On my duty belt I carry an XM-L2 Spark SL6S with a T5 in it.
Cops and firefighters around here use mags and streamlights. The Army has surefire products mostly. I was a first responder for awhile and we used whatever we felt like same for the volunteer firemen. Still mostly old school.
cops and fire around here have either streamlight or pelican or mags…they usually comment when they see my lights turn on lol…
