Regarding the 3 versus 4 cell discussion from earlier - ergonomics are important, especially lights that are to be more than “shelf queens.”
Both will be bulky in a pocket, but I don’t have Dick Butkus, err, LeBron James, err, Gigi Buffon hands and find that, weight aside, the decreased circumference makes the light significantly more comfortable to carry. I sold the only two 4-cell lights I had for this very reason. 3x18650/21700 all the way!
Sorry, I don’t have a Rot66. Your second question is hard to answer because I haven’t yet defined what my primary use for each light will be. But if I had to pick one it would probably be the D18. But that shouldn’t influence you; it’s a very personal decision. I’ve tried many lights for EDC and my two favorites are the D4SV2/SST20/6500K and the D4SV2vn/W2/6500K. My eyes need much light, that’s why the 6500K.
Yea I was just curious what you would pick or anyone would pick, because they are "similar" it only by their emitter count. They are otherwise very different lights. I still need to make a decision.
i had the 5700k xhp50 version and sold it. It was a really awesome light, I just couldn't get passed the color temperature, the 5700k seemed more like 6500k, and I'd rather have a multi cell larger light with 5000k all day. Just my opinion of course, but I'm so used to 5000k or lower temperatures that unless it's a osram thrower I am not willing to keep a light with a really cool tint.
I may buy it again though, because the portability was nice. But my rot66 xpl-hi 5A 4000k is brighter than the ft02s, and the light it puts out is much more useful and much more pleasant.
I have ft02s with sst40 5000k and waiting xhp50.2 5700 version.
Are you sure Rot66 has more lumens?
I watched some reviews and only in turbo has enough lumens.
You gotta have one of these in your collection. These are flood monsters. They are blinding to put them on turbo in a room. The quad 18650 MF01 has outstanding battery life.
I have MF01S & some mini’s, I was interested in the Lumintop but after watching a review I couldn’t believe how quick turbo 18k-Lumens stepped down to significantly less output. I know from experience the MF01S stays @max output for quite a while. Well a lot longer than a few seconds. It’s a shame as the Lumintop looks really nice. The MF01S is a lotta light for it’s $$.
im not sure, sometimes I get zealous making my point. Basing the rot66 (12) emitters of xpl-hi 4000k, to the xpl-hi data sheet of somewhere around 900 lumens at Max amperage, I am estimating 10,500-ish lumens, who knows if that is actually what it puts out. But then again I know the ft02s doesn't put out 13,500 lumens, or maybe it does for 1.5 seconds but that's not real. I'd say they are probably pretty equivalent. Except the xpl-hi 5A 4000k has much better (IMO) tint.
