Well the BLF GT inspired a lot of manufactures to create huge reflector flashlights,it is becoming to be a race for max throw I see.Maybe if they make ultra giga thrower with 50sm or more diameter reflector it will get very expensive 5000 meters throw huh?

Most expensive I have seen was a Hanko trident with mother of pearl inlays . If I remember correctly, the winner paid just under $16k.

This is actually very interesting thread. I think these $5k lights can find customers. I’d call it a Veblen good. It’s just about having a thing that others cannot have.
There is a name for it in Economy: Veblen effect. .

Just imagining now what a flashlight could satisfy an Arabian sheikh. Did anybody visit a flashlight store in Kuwait? It’s a good market for sales too. But besides adding fancy ornaments,is there any technical possibility to spend say $5000 for main components like driver, led or host? Judging by the flashlight shops I visit it would be extreme difficult to spend such money for a single flashlight. At least unless you tell to custom make each component. Or machining in gold/platinum.

These are cheap.
HID based ones cost more. I don’t know the prices though. $5k? Maybe $16k? Unlikely.

The Spy Tri-V 3B with all the upgrades at $5200 or so is the most expensive custom light I’m aware of that isn’t just an expensive exotic metal sold at auction. The above Hanko is the most expensive custom auction I’ve seen to date, though I believe the superconductor one was auctioned for $9500 which was the previous mark.

However, it wouldn’t actually make much sense if silver exists, and would actually make for a better performing flashlight.

I would try to make a gold anodization, but pure gold wouldn’t be very useful anyway.

ok the hankos are pretty cool and sexual looking

but here are my concerns

leds and drivers are pretty much what we can find in lumintops, convoys and various other mid priced-low prices torches

if i was paying 1k or 5k for a flash light id be wanting something thats pretty rare in a flash light, other then the massive man hours hand making a super looking torch

lexel drivers. some custom lexel drivers a led cluster with different tints is a example
something more then a 1k torch with 30euro electronics!

on the same hand if i had 250k to buy a car , i would and then help people in need in my local area

i like pretty things and also like to see people happy

there are billionaires in the world that help less then someone on 50k a year
