Since the decision between 1xAA and 2xAA should be easy based on your wants/needs, I’ll give two options:
In 1xAA, Crelant V11A (accepts AA or 14500, Klarus is only AA)
In 2xAA, V21A (accepts 2xAA or 1x14500, Klarus is 2xAA only)
In 1xAA/14500, I’d also suggest the Balder SE1 for $15, but it sold out quick.
Also, get an XP-G2 from FT and upgrade that Romisen
I don’t care much about 14500 because i don’t have any, but the romisen was given away so even though i bought upgrade parts (an xp-g2 on star and 550ma driver), its gone
I’m leaning toward 2AA mostly for more lumens, but ideally i would enjoy a 250 lumen single AA with 2 or 3 modes
I don’t know how many AA lumens the crelant would give
With 14500 off the table, it comes down to output on AA then. I’d guess that the 2xAA lights will be brighter, and probably for longer.
It’s hard to guess which will be brighter (throw or lumens).
MD-Lightsourse list the specs for V21-A on 2xAA at 450 lumens on high. My understanding is that MD-Lightsource try to be accurate with their numbers.
Klarus is 245 lumens. I doubt it will actually turn out to be brighter than the spec.
based on output specs, the Crelant wins. price is the same, so no help there.
Last factor is aesthetics; all yours Remember, the Crelants are actually black, not grey as in the photos.
i want lumens, throw is not a huge issue, but i’m not convinced its 450 lumens on AA, i think that would be on 14500, and it says at 1A which would be around 300 lumens
I PMed lightsource a few days ago but got no reply.
Those Klarus are tempting for the price. If two modes will work for you...I think you can trust doingoutdoors. I think the P2A makes for handy light that throws well and puts out lots of lumens in it's class.
Ill help you…
….to make the desiccation harder, by showing you one more light…
SHADOW MNI TC6 2xAA
Its currently on sale. 30% off. I think its looks great. Dont know much about it, but I always considered one. Shadow lights are usually nice.
Might be too big for you though, considering the other lights you are looking at.
it would be over 400 lumens for the crelant if its 1A to the emitter, i had it stuck in my head it was an xp-g light not xm-l, so it does appear to be the lumen winner
I have the RRT01 (16340 only) and it is pretty much the perfect light IMO. Lows so low that even in pitch black you can barely see the faintest of glow from the emitter. Twist the ring and smoothly crank up the brightness to 550 lumens with the infinite output control ring. There is nothing to not like about the light and everything to love about the RRT lights. Not cheap but the cheapest ever at FT and worth 3X every penny you will spend on it. Folks here are always searching for the perfect light. Mine ended when the RRT01 arrived at my house. If I ever lost it I'd buy two more immediately. One to use and the other to store if I l lose the other.
