Which Light will Impress ?

Hi all,

Rapidly following on from my purchase of a 2x AA light (the QP2A) I am looking to pick up a high powered light that will demonstrate how good these LED lights can be.

My key requirements, in priority order, are:

1. High Power, long throw
2. A few interesting modes to play with
3. Not too large, say max 8 inches in length
4. Good build quality
5. Flexibility in cell types it will take would be nice but at least 18650 cells (which I understand are the best for powering these torches)
6. Nice to have but not essential would be some modularity so that I could drop in other LEDs if I needed to, but not at the expense of the other requirements above

Budget is up to £60 / $90 and happy to source from a Chinese site such as DoingOutdoor.com or FastTech.com.

So, what should I be looking at ?

Take the Sky Ray King.

Not a Thrower, but the most impressive (budget)light =)

If you want some good throw, and something that looks big (massive), try a Convoy L2 from FastTech.
Runs on single/double 18650/26650. Bordering on 8 inches with single batt, though.

Otherwise if you want a real nice triple emitter, I'd go Roche M170 from FancyFlashlights for your budget.
Most triple emitters, bar the BTU Shocker, will mostly be floody, not throwy. The BTU is just a light nuke.
You won't be able to see past 100~150m or so, but everything within that range will be like soaking in daylight.

Check out a P25 from Nitecore, they feel really good in hand and are exceptionally well made and designed.

Keep in mind that you would need to buy some decent batteries and a charger as well if you don't have any now, and that could add up to half that budget.

I suggest armytek predator v2.5. lots of chance to play/program the mode to suit your taste ;) edit: just bump in other thread, there's video for its extreme test.

I would consider the asgard from fasttech, its based on a pretty good budget thrower but can be programed using bluetooth and an android phone, there are a few threads regarding this light and it starts shipping soon so you’d be on brand fire new tech

I probably wouldnt buy a big light just to impress people. Get it if you feel you have a legitimate need or at least a use for it.

Theres one that looks like a TK75 knockoff that promises to have excellent throw.

While your average Joe Citizen will be impressed with many of the lights in here. The average patron from this venue will have a different take. The trustfire X6 should prolly work. Depending on how far you want to throw.

Sorry guys, I may not have explained properly.

I am not looking to impress anyone...I just want to impress myself ;)

I am interested to see what this new technology is capable of !

I have ordered an EA4w from Fast Tech as it sounds like an impressive light for its size. I will use it for my house torch but also considering taking it on holiday with me this summer

Good choice.

This one?

Or this one?

Or the Laser beam…. LOL

& yes, I have the day off. Boredom has me by the throat!!

I will reiterate then, have a look at the asgard if you want to see impressive new tech. Their shipping now, so I can report back in a couple of weeks but the programming app is available now to play with.

dale I’m guessing

btu
xintd c8
crelant collimator

care to tell me how wrong I am?

1. Trustfire X6
2. Blackshadow Terminator
3. SCORE! Crelant 7G5cs

you didn’t fancy the lumen howitzers then?

While not one of the ‘Big Dogs’. I really like this 7G5cs

I am trying to look out for the OP… If he googles a few of my lights. The price tags may cause cardiac arrest. LOL ( They did Miss D )

Hi Dale,

I prefer the Beam of the second photo - is that the Blackshadow Terminator ?

I have picked up the EA4 (to keep the Quark QP2A company) in the short-term which was a bit of an impulse buy - looking forward to trying it out.

I am still interested in trying out something using 18650 cells but may wait a while now as I have just dropped over $100 on those two flashlights !!

The Asgard does sound interesting though - the programmability looks like it could be fun

SON!!! You havent even started yet!!! LMAO… Yes that was the Blackshadow Terminator… Mine is the U3 version…. One sec , I made a video

Thanks for the video link Dale.

Crikey, that things is impressive ! Those reflectors do a great job just taking it out of the box - It even dazzles before you switch it on !

Also, it looks pretty solid, could be classed as a weapon.

Just a bit above your stated price range. But hey, if your gonna be a bear, be a Grizzly…. LOL
