Which movie did you watch lastֻ

I was too busy being annoyed to notice the music. I’ll have to turn on the soundtrack sometime while I’m reading a book.

I watched Deadpool and Wolverine in the cinema.

Honestly, I don’t get the high ratings at all. To me it felt like they were like “hey, what do fans like about Deadpool movies” and then put way too many of those scenes into the movie. Then they sprinkled in a ton of “nostalgia catching scenes”, cameos of older movies or comics made entirely for the audience to be like “oh, wow, I remember watching this 10 years ago, cool!”. And after they decided on all those scenes, they sat down to write a mediocre story tieing these loose scenes together.

It was too gory, too much innuendo/sexual jokes and too much heavy swearing for me. I usually don’t mind this stuff (I loved the first Deadpool movie, I love most Tarantinos) but it was too much, too often, too forced for my taste.

Same about breaking the fourth wall. Deadpool is famous for it. It feels funny once in a while. In this movie basically every second scene one of the characters broke the fourth wall until I was just like “oh, not again, I’m tired”.

The cameos of older characters were fun, and I appreciated seeing some childhood/youth movie characters again.

They had some pretty fun ideas for this movie, but for me it just didn’t work out. Too bad, I was really looking forward to it. It was still entertaining, but nowhere near how much I hoped for.

Too much of these movies are just jangling keys to try to get people to give a shiite anymore and fill theater seats.

Yes, sadly. I expected nothing else from most of the Marvel lineup, but the previous Deadpool movies were always pretty refreshingly different. Guess I expected too much from this one.

bizarre. reminded me of the original Frankenstein.
playing God by making a human something.
yes, i felt sorry for the “monster” in both.

Honestly, I think that’s probably most of it. I figured a best-case scenario would be more of the same and I think that is largely what we got. Like you said, it is the same shtick as 10 yrs ago, but more of it.

BTW, is your reaction to the gore more of an “ew gross” response or, “that’s tacky and unnecessary” kind of response? It is so overdone that I personally find it humorous which is what I think they were going for.

The second one, it just felt like too much. They were probably going to make fun of being gore-y, but the scenes were sometimes so long, they just bored me. Especially the initial one felt endless.

Fair enough!

During the first one, I was in suspense because I thought Logan was going to regenerate from the skeleton, like if some of Wade’s blood landed on it maybe. The whole time I was waiting for something creative to be done with that concept. I was disappointed when it didn’t happen, and it did drag on. (I believe Logan has come back from being just a skeleton in the comics)

For the middle fight with all of the Deadpools, the plot basically pauses for the carnage. However, when there is that much happening on screen, I find it entertaining to look for the best bits of choreography amid all of the chaos. I also like trying to predict what gag is next. For example, I was sure that Dogpool was going to turn out to have the regeneration that his owner was didn’t get. I thought he was gonna get run over and then regenerate.

I totally get wanting the story to continue though.

Not a Movie. Went to see Jeff Dunham live. Those dolls in real life have some foul mouths ( loved it). They threw out more F bombs than Red Fox. We were really close, it’s crazy how realistic they act. There was a sign language guy in front for the hearing impaired group. Peanut messed with him so much he was stuttering.
Crazy Good Fun Go see him if you have the opportuniy

I’ve seen many Jeff Dunham specials.
He is pretty funny. :+1:

Totally different live. Well at least at a Casino show with adults only. He has an upcoming special on Prime. This was it before being edited and redone for all ages.

I have watched it now twice but last night was the first my wife has seen it. She liked it.
Great low budget film with actors I did not know which is refreshing.
You Will think about certain aspects of this movie the day or 2 after watching it.
Got some violence for sure but some levity as well.
Anyway check it you if you like.
On Amazon Prime currently.

Is it just me, or was the plot description totally confusing?

It vaguely sounds like a variation of “Compulsion”, only one of them seems to keep the other on a bit of a leash.

No plot spoilers.

This movie is pretty terrible if you ask me. There are lots of shots that look cool, but none of it works together. Poor character development, bad plotting, and generally mediocre writing contribute to the cheapening of the overall film.

The writers clearly flunked every physics class they ever took.

Ripley was brave because she did what was necessary to survive. Rain is an idiot because she enters situations that are intuitively deadly for bad reasons.

The life cycle of the Aliens has been tampered with. It’s waaay too fast to be believable since there is no time for the creatures to feed. Also, an extra phase has been added to the Alien lifecycle for no good reason (cocoon stage after chest-burster).

I think the writers were trying to make moviegoers question whether synthetics/androids are real people or not. I generally like plots that deal with the concept of AI like this. Unfortunately, the movie seems to show early on that Andy truly is just a machine since his priorities instantly change with the insertion of an “upgrade module.” (fancy USB stick bogus).

I think a perfectly fair score for this film would be 4/10. I honestly can’t believe the reviews it is getting. I propose a re-title. Alien: YAN (young adult novel)

I agree that it starts out amazing. But I wouldn’t say the full second half is bad. Just the last 15-20 minutes. It really falls on it’s face. Which sucks because it started out so freaking good!!! I love that they didn’t do a while lot of character building on most of them. You just figure it out along the way.

For me things really started to fall apart around the time they boarded the other expedition. Just loads and load of bad decision making from humanity’s best and brightest.

Also, this is the most advanced ship humanity can produce, but it has the WORST security. Anyone can apparently just walk into the server room and destroy the mission critical computer systems. The AI is aware they have a stowaway but doesn’t disclose that info until it is forced out through questioning. There are rooms you can be locked inside with no manual override inside? Seriously, walk-in freezers have that feature at the lowliest restaurant chain.

But you’re right, the truly egregious stuff happens near the end. What the !@%! was that camera work? And you have people standing literally feet away from the surface of the sun who are just getting lightly crisped? :joy:

The Abyss 1989. Gotta love the scene when diffusing the nuke with a low CRI chemical light stick:

Mmm, Nerdotic had a pretty good review of it.

Tldr: started pretty decent, but fell off a cliff at the end.

I can see what you are saying based on the crappy plot description of The Passenger (2023)
Actually happy that the description doesn’t give it all away.

Thing I love is it relies on actors facial/body reactions as much as dialog. To me that is true acting, conveying a feeling without overwhelming broadcasting it.
And love the multiple Psychological layers of a killer and what drove them there as well as their inherent humanity.

Make yourself at home, pcdoodle!
