This movie is very good.
The acting is great.
The music is excellent.
The action sequences are done well.
The horror elements are entertaining.
Some of the dramatic scenes are a bit slow.
Overall, it’s a fun watch.

This movie is good.
The acting is pretty good, but most of the characters are unlikeable.
The music is superb and at times creepy.
There are some scenes with arguing that I did not care for (maybe 15% of the movie.)
They are mostly in the first act, but I did like the rest of the movie.
The plot is thin, and the plot is mostly an excuse for violence.
The violence is over the top and is done well.
Overall, I enjoyed the film, but it’s only suitable for horror fans.

This movie is between okay and bad.
The script and acting are terrible.
The plot is mostly silly.
The music is sometimes okay and sometimes annoying.
Some of the fight sequences are done well, but the good ones are few and far between.
There are many nice stunts in the movie, but the movie is not very entertaining, and the great stunts don’t help very much.
I saw this film decades ago, and I had fond memories of the movie, but I no longer like this movie.

I’m surprised you gave it a go after reading the synopsis. Or maybe you didn’t to avoid spoilers
Went to see The Odyssey. I really enjoyed it except for the fact that the cinema had cranked the volume so high that I had to wear earplugs, without which I think it would have been unbearable.
Hard pass from me. Gotta realise it’s not Homer’s Odyssey (doh!), but Chris Nolan’s Odyssey.
Even the chick whose translation was used, Emily Wilson, said she refuses to see it and wants nothing to do with it, and told people to not even ask her about it.
Oeuf. That’s harsh.
It’s not being touted as Homer’s Odyssey. No movie adaptation of a book is 100% accurate to the source material, it’s always the director’s interpretation. Not to mention that Homer’s version was his own adaptation of extant mythology anyway.
Also two of Wilson’s complaints are that there are no sex scenes and that the food looks horrible, the former I consider a bonus and the latter was inconsequential.

Christopher Nolan is my favorite filmmaker.
I’ll watch any full-length feature that he directs, as long as the IMDb score is 6.0 or above.
By the way, the lowest IMDb score he has is 7.2, so he’d have to really screw up for me to miss one of his films, though I admit that not every one of his movies is a winner. 
To be fair, I only read The Odyssey in high school, but my teacher was reeeeeeally enthusiastic about it. And Odysseus was always portrayed as a great vainglorious warrior who loved what he did, was trying desperately trying to get home, and could be pretty vicious at times.
Nolan’s version seems to make him regretful, doubtful, willing to skip going home once he finds some comfy digs and squeezy companionship, and not quite hero material.
That’s like rewriting “Halloween” to make Michael Myers just plain misunderstood, a victim of a lousy upbringing, ultimately in touch with his feminine side, and crying himself to sleep after each kill, just wanting to be normal like everyone else.
It might be fine for The Modern Audience™, but anyone familiar with the original will be going “wtf???” and positively hate it.
I absolutely hate the “Kurtzman Trek” movies which were a huge “FU!!” to the fans, “rebooting” everything and pretty much making all the serieses and movies up to that point as if they never existed.
Planet Vulcan? Not in Kurtzman Trek! They dead! Well, except for those who were lucky enough to not be on Vulcan at the time. So no more TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, or subsequent movies. Gone. Erased. Never happened.
TMA™ which has no clue about any of those, wouldn’t mind the eye candy and sfx, and would accept the KT movies just fine.
Those of us who grew up with them just wish Kurtzman a horrible painful lingering death.
There are “adaptations”, and there’s raping the original to death and mutilating the corpse.
Look what “Doctor Who” did to David Tennant’s Doctor. He went from The Time Lord Victorious to “oh I’m sorry, did I misgender the meep?”.
RTD can join Kurtzman in Hell. After a long horrible painful lingering death.
And while I don’t have any actual animosity towards the latter, look at “The Closer” vs “Major Crimes”. Most of the same characters, same setting, but I’ll rarely miss the 2-nightly reruns of TC, but never watch MC, and I gave it 2 complete runs to try to change my mind.
Must be different writers, because so many of the characters just… changed. Flynn was rather proud of and rather good at being a real 'hole, but he was rewritten to be Mr Sensitive, a wannabe family man, etc. They’re just not the same character.
That, plus it turned into The Rusty Show, which I couldn’t f’n stand. I wish Stroh caught him and did him in at the end of TC.
So, yeah, no “Major Crimes” for me.
Remakes can be good, even if different. Eg, the OG and remake of “13 Ghosts”. The ideas might be similar, but so loosely that the remake was legit its own movie. The OG was about the hidden money, etc., and the remake was way more heavily supernatural and horrific. Like, people actually died in the remake, vs a cutesy celebratory ending in the OG.
So, all that said, no PTSDed Odysseus for me. I gotta look up that other movie version of it, maybe give that a watch.

To address the one point of all this that actually refers to the movie I watched - Odysseus didn’t just decide to stay put because Charlize Theron, she was feeding him lotus flowers which made him lose his memory of his home and his desire to return. I realise that in Homer’s version Calypso kept Odysseus prisoner with promises of immortality and sex, and that it was his crew that fell victim to the lotus-eaters, but conflating the two for the sake of pacing in an already almost three-hour movie does not seem egregious and is not changing the overall narrative. It’s also kind of hard to reconcile your description of “PTSDed Odysseus” with the man who chose to murder his wife’s suitors rather than just telling them all to bugger off because he was back.
The Odyssey was not Homer’s original creation, he composed a poem based on a myth that had been being performed verbally for hundreds of years. This is not Frankenstein where Mary Shelley wrote an original text that can be (rightly) considered definitive, it’s more akin to Robin Hood, a story told by many people over many years. You can like Errol Flynn’s version of Robin Hood better than Kevin Costner’s, but neither is “the original”.

Hang on a sec… Odysseus murdering the suitors, etc., that was in the Homer version.
I thought that wasn’t in the Nolan version.
That’s what I meant about “PTSDed Odysseus”, that he saw and experienced so much, too much, that he just wanted to crawl home but was okay with shacking up elsewhere, whereas the Homer version would get home come Hell or high water. Then when he did get home, got his yayas out with some good old fashioned slaughter. Like, hardly PTSDed.
Happens in the Nolan version too.
I rewatched “Mr Nobody” (Director’s Cut) last night.
On paper this movie might sound boring depending on your tastes. But the execution of this concept makes this movie exceptional. The acting, the casting, the cinematography. It’s not your average movie.
