finally finished The Big Bang Theory DVDs.
the middle years were better than the first two and the last four.
Parsons really got better and better, and the writers did, too.
We just finished The Sopranos last night.
It’s a competently written crime drama for the most part, although most of the characters are quite unlikable for one reason or another, which isn’t always a forgone conclusion (look at something like Better Call Saul for example.)
By the end of the show, I was asking myself “Do I care about a single one of these people? Am I rooting for any of them to do well?” Honestly, not really. That aspect of it makes it a ‘one and done’ viewing for me. No interest in ever watching it again. It’s too bleak and depressing.
Finished Landman a couple of weeks ago, good show but not great IMO – I would give it 3.5 of 5 stars.
Now parallel watching Love, Death and Robots S4, Bosch Legacy S3, Black Mirror S7, and Your Friends&Neighbors S1, at about Episode 4 of each one – here are my impressions so far:
-
Love, Death and Robots S4: short so totally watchable when you are too tired to spend 45+ minutes watching TV (its episodes are about 10 minutes long on average); In terms of quality, there are some good episodes and some bad ones, overall watchable but not very good, my rating so far is 3 stars out of 5.
-
Bosch Legacy S3: restarted after being able to produce a very decent recap of S2 using Grok AI so I could remember where things stood at the end of the previous season – S3 is almost the missing end of S2 in terms of having to remember basically everything from S2 in order to make sense of things), So far not liking it as much as the previous seasons, and even less than the original series, but it still deserves 3.5 out of 5 stars from me.
-
Black Mirror S7: very, very good (easily 4.5 of 5 stars and maybe more), but some episodes may be disturbing (I’m looking at you, Episode 1) so it may be contra-indicated to watch when you are just trying to relax from a hard day before heading to bed, as it can give you too much to think about. Otherwise, strongly recommended – and everyone should watch S07E01 (titled “Common People”) and think long and hard about the future it depicts.
-
Your Friends&Neighbors S1: Jon Hamm does very good acting, direction and production are quite decent, and the general tone and social commentary is funny and refreshing even if a bit on the cynic side. I rate it at 4 stars out of 5 so far.
Chloe navigates life with husband Adam and son Ethan while her sister Nicky battles addiction. Adam’s murder unveils long-hidden family secrets, shaking their world.
/w Elizabeth Banks and Jessica Biel
Mobland.
That was good. Guy Ritchie finally found his nuts and recovering.
8/10 I hope they won’t !@#$ second season.
Tom Hardy - rocks.
Geoff Bell, Paddy Considine, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren - great.
I keep looking at The Better Sister as a possible next view, then I read the above and I’m bored with it before I even start.
Been binge watching Stranger Things.
Entertaining.
The ST flashlights are still a hit with the younger crowd.
All the Best, Jeff
I saw Fabio Wardley vs. Justis Huni, a heavyweight boxing match from yesterday.
Both boxers were undefeated before this match.
The audio levels were not optimal.
The volume of the commentators should have been higher than the other volume levels.
I had trouble understanding the commentators because of this technical flaw.
The match itself was very good, with a stunning ending.
Spoiler alert!
In heavyweight boxing, anything can happen.
Sometimes all it takes is one lucky punch.
After the match, the interviews were captivating.
Everyone involved sounded quite intelligent and mature.
What a great boxing match!
I binged the entire S01, and I wish I didn’t. The show is probably foucsed a little bit more towards female viewers?
Not worth the time IMO, but has high ratings.
Tells the story of Roman Compte, Cuban exile, CIA operative, and general manager of the Hotel Mutiny, the glamorous epicenter of the late '70s and early '80s Miami cocaine scene.
Only watched the first two episodes, I liked it so far.
I saw the final episode of After Midnight.
That show is the sequel to @midnight
.
After Midnight only ran for two seasons, and I saw every episode.
I like both of these shows.
They’re great late night comedy game shows.
I’ll miss them both, and hopefully in the future there will be another sequel or spin-off.
