Both are extremely similar lights, despite the SK05 Pro2 having high capacity batteries, it’s runtime is only about 30%-60% of the Jetbeam at similar brightness modes. See spot high mode for most apple to apple comparison as both seem to be using sft-42r at similar brightness. The loopgear is 2.2 hours and the jetbeam is 7.5 hours.
ZeroAir has tested both, and the test result mostly match the official specs of both lights.
ZeroAir’s result mostly matches 1lumen’s result for the SK05 2 as well.
What is even more confusing is that the amp draw across both light tested by ZeroAir is also very similar.
Why such high run time difference between the two? Is the LoopGear only using a linear/FET driver? Or is the LoopGear 4000mah batteries not really 4000mah?

To answer your direct question, yes, the LoopGear batteries aren’t really 4ah! According to @blfmaniac, the LoopGear batteries are only 3600mah.
Thanks for the link! It seems the Gen2 SK05 has gotten worse, for the spot beam, its 2.2hour @900 lumen for the loopgear and 7.5hours @800 lumen for the jetbeam. Maybe the extra 100lumen on the sft42 is extremely inefficient.

The Jetbeam has a stepdown at about five minutes in high and the Loop Gear does not. It takes more power to sustain 1000lm than 800.
Take a look at runtime graphs from reviews you’re referencing to.
Jetbeam Spot High
About 740lm for 3.9 hours + 100lm for 2.2 hours. 3106 lm*h in total.
Loopgear Spot High
About 675lm for 2.5 hours + 30lm for 19.6 hours. 2275lm*h in total. That low output might be very inefficient.
But Loopgear’s Turbo graph is more relevant
About 865lm for 3.15 hours. 2724lm*h in total.

2724lmh vs 3106 lmh is still a pretty big difference given the SK05 gets a 20% bigger battery. So we are looking at atleast 30% difference in efficiency betwen the two.
