Why are there so many different ways of running a flashlight/headlamp? Most of them are just annoying and I wonder who is thinking up these different ways of turning on/off a light and switching modes. It seems like there are certain UIs that are generally considered good but they don’t seem to be any more common than the stupid UIs.
Lotta people out there, lotta different preferences, uses, and environments.
Some people like hml, others lmh, some side switch, others tailcap clicky, some both, some moon, some turbo timers, some mode memory..... List goes on and on.
There's a bajillion ways to make em', and a certain setup for everyone. Everyone agreeing on one setup just won't happen.
Care to give us an example of a “stupid UI”?
I suspect that you’ll find someone who doesn’t think that it is so stupid.
Did we ever find out who who settled on the “next mode memory stumble into strobe” driver?
I’m sure, whoever he is, he spoke Chinese. And had vast power to determine what a billion people used, for years.
We live with his legacy.
And why are there so many different UIs?
Because for quite a while, “anything but that” was the criterion for the next good idea.
