【ツ】WildTrail WT1M & WT3M Sales Thread

I guess you meant you have a 5000K M21A (C8+ with 21700 batt tube)?

Have you tried setting the temp and temp limits?. Also assuming your battery is good, the flicker on high and turbo might just be poor battery connection.

Temp on mine was 10°C low

According to WildTrail a few of the clear coated "silver" lights may have some residue from the coating process on their electrical contact areas. Black anodized lights are not affected at all. The problem can be resolved quite easily by removing the residue on both ends of the battery tube as well as on the outer rim inside the tailcap as shown in the following two videos. (Remark: videos courtesy by WildTrail, uploaded to YT by me)

Should you still be encountering flickering output or severe electrical contact problems after these steps, please get in contact with WildTrail, e.g. sales(at)wt-light.com, to request a replacement of the tube and tailcap.

Great info, thanks Lux!

Welcome to BLF!! You may have set the record for 1st post quotes

This does sound like a ground problem. I had a ground problem on the WT3M prototype - there was a coating, possibly the clear anodizing, on the tailcap's ledge that makes electrical contact with the battery tube end. My fix at the time was to scratch up that surface. A DMM can be used to check it - check for continuity between the spring and that surface -- mine failed. The DMM proved the coating was present on that ledge, but you could also get continuity on the edge of the ledge, so the connection could be intermittent, or seems to work, but won't be a strong connection.

I thought this was a prototype only issue, didn't realize that it got out in the first production batch this way. The WT1M has a different tailcap and I used the DMM on both WT1M's I have and detected no coating, so good continuity there. So I don't know how many WT3M's are effected, but if you suspect a ground problem (flickers, etc.), would be worth checking with a DMM and dong the procedures shown in the vids.

It's a pleasure to know you, vonroyale!

yes, that is what i meant.. i am an idiot, lets not forget. an M21a.

Thank you Lux-Perpetua, the solution helped a little but the problem still exists.

That being said, Wild Trail customer service was INCREDIBLY helpful! They responded back to me within an hour, and said they knew about the issue, they are 5 days out on production of the new clear bodies and tailcaps and they are sending me a new one. So of course I purchased the SST40 WT1M immediately based on all the rave reviews and they'll ship together.

Great experience all around from Wild Trail.

And also it seems it's just the Turbo which has no stepdown, High Ramp steps down right away, maybe even a little too quickly. Waiting on my temperature sensor to arrive to perform an accurate calibration.

I got my WT1M yesterday, i put in a SFT40, it really makes it a nice little compact thrower.

edit: the links didn't come up on my phone when I first viewed this. apologies

nice work! It DOES look great with sft40. Now this makes me want to try my plan B on my incoming wt1m... :))

Hi guys, anybody can do a beam comparison between the WT1M and WT3M? Thinking of getting the WT3M, with only a BLF A6 for a comparison, how does the beam compare to that? Looking at khas’ beamshots of the WT1M, the WT1M seems to be too throwy for my needs. And for the WT3M, what are the differences between the 2 LED choices and which would you suggest?

Thanks!

hi NigthStalker! The WT3M is very floody, wide spill area, very different from the WT1M. This is a simple wall shot of the WT3M w/SST-40 5000K's:

This is close-up but you may notice the wide angle of the flood zone, and still having a hot spot, though big one. Don't have a XHP-50.2 version to compare with though.

Funny, but in that timeframe of the 1990's, I was doing some work for the NightStalker's, Ft. Campbell, 160th SOAR -- is that where your name came from?

Just got my WT3M sst40 version. No issues with flickering but the tailcap is very squeaky when removing. I am most impressed and will get the 50.2 version as well. It is very pocketable.

Surprised we’ve not seem any proper reviews (runtime graphs, etc) of this light yet! Hope they are coming soon.

My second Wt1M should be here anyday. Will be getting a fun new led in this one. Can't wait for it.

WT3M with xhp50.2 beamshot please.

Does it work after connecting to powerbank without cell?

Yes it works.
