Win 11 updated crashing SSDs

Well isn’t this special. A security updated is causing many SSDs to vanish.
And it’s part of a feature update that can’t be uninstalled.
Here’s one of many vids that goes into the problem.

I’ve built 3 PCs with a Crucial P3 Plus and I’ve messaged and warned the users not to install these updates.

I thought that it could be uninstalled.
I didn’t watch the video, but if you installed KB5063878, that can be uninstalled.
Here’s a link on how to do that.

After uninstalling KB5063878, you can use this tool to hide the update so that Windows doesn’t just keep installing it.

It’s a portable program and here’s a site that shows how to use it and also has a download link.

Also, I use StopUpdates10 to block Windows Update on Windows 7/8/8.1/10/11.

I use the “Soft Block” method because I like it more than the “Hard Block” method, but they both work. :slightly_smiling_face:
StopUpdates10 doesn’t block specific updates.
It blocks (and unblocks) all updates–that’s useful if you think that Windows Update is annoying. :+1:

You should check to see if your drive is affected. Only a handful are.

We don’t know how widespread the problem is because it’s so new.
In my opinion, if you have Windows 11, then make sure you don’t have KB5063878 installed just to be safe. :grin:

According to the video the update can be uninstalled but that doesn’t change things since the code is part of a featured update.

I’ll watch the video in the next few hours.
That said, a well written article is way more convenient to me than a YouTube video, and I know that this guy in this video doesn’t get to the point very quickly (in other videos) because I’ve seen him before.

Okay, I watched the video.
In the video, I’m not sure which “featured update” is the problem.

I think this is the “first video” that was referenced to if anyone is curious.

Only drives with InnoGrit and Phison controllers are affected. Check who makes your controller.
