Loved casios as a kid. Now I have a bigger one. I was going buy a classic G-shock, but the buttons on this one are so much easier to press. They even have knurling on them! I use almost all the functions on this watch, so the buttons are a big deal.

What’s the reason for having the strap fitted the other way round?

Helps with hiding the bulk of the strap from facing outwards. I don’t do it cause I don’t mind, but that’s often why it’s done.

Love my Rangeman. It’s huge, but the buttons are so easy to press compared to those classic squares. As much as I like my 5000U, it just becomes such a pain trying to use the other functions.

i love my ga2100 with lume mod. it is 3 years old and going strong. none of that “smart” garbage

the white balance is a bit off in the lume shot, it is suppose to be green. here is an older but a more representative photo:

but, i also have a lume ring in blue that i used to wear, but i didint like the look of blue indices and green hands:

and i also have f91w that i have modded with negative display and dual blue led backlight:

When you say lume mod, did you apply the lume yourself? Was it a dial swap? Been thinking of getting proper lume added to some watches I don’t wear often enough, but was curious what the process is like.

How tough is it to change the hands on that Lume mod?

I just got the indices from CXD (Creative Xtreme Design) and have replaced the ring my self. Literally just take the movement out and pull the stock one out, its held in by a little bit of double sided tape.

I didnt change the hands since back when i got the indices there were no hands available. From what i have seen on youtube its not that hard, just need to be careful and need a special tool (or not)

The single most ironic thing about watches is that the super expensive automatic ones are the least accurate. A $10 Timex is more accurate.

2 Thanks

That’s why when Seiko came out with quartz, and started flooding the market, the closure and failure of all these automatic watches was often called the quartz crisis.

Yes, correct.

I hear some of them require maintenance plans also. That sounds like a real PITA.

I don’t think most people care about the precision of time as much as the looks of the timepiece. I don’t need the precision my watch offers, but it’s piece of mind knowing it will never be incorrect.

That’s true, but comparing an automatic watch with a quartz is like comparing a car with an EV.
The sound of Mark Donohue firing up his 1,500hp Porsche 917/30 to set a speed record on the Talladega track that lasted 11 years is unforgettable!

Please don’t be offended, but I’m just an old guy who is a bit sorry he missed the steam era.
My two grandfathers were engine drivers on steam loc’s, and they were very happy when they were replaced by diesels :innocent:

(sorry for being such a typo queen)
