Looking for one with a removable pill, but would not have to have that option. I suppose heat transfer would be better if it was integrated. I am not sure what other hosts I would consider, there are so many at this point. I am mainly looking for decent build quality, Mountain is out of them. I am not in a hurry, but would like to try one of these.
Let me know what you have and we can go from there.
The new Convoy C8 hosts all have the integrated shelf instead of the removable pill. It seems that they are all going that way now. I prefer the removable pills for the most part because it makes installing the driver and MCPCB easier, and it allows for easy height tuning for different MCPCB and lens setups.
I just bought one from him (RMM/Richard), minus the test and build option ($5.50) I had added I would say $38.00-$42.00 for the parts I had him put in mine. I gotta tell you it surprised me, out performs my stock XinTD C8 V5 XP-G2 S4 2B , by a pretty fair margin, Convoy has moonlight up to turbo (6 modes) with this setup. Also had mine dedomed.

My new KD C8 is sitting in Chicago, should be in early this week. I will review it as soon as I can. It is an XM-U2 3 mode with OP reflector and removable pill, I am hoping for decent quality as a host.
I may install a dedomed XP-G2 R4 5A in it with either a 3 amp 7135 driver or FET driver, will be pushed hard. May leave it stock if it throws well and is driven hard, if not driven hard I will go to a FET driver with the stock LED mounted to a sinkpad or noctigon.
Opinions? Looking forward to the build, I really like the C8 form factor.
The 5A1 isn't too bad. I think that Dale has my first dedomed 5A1 in a small 16340 light. I did it on accident and it turned out pretty good. It is a bit rosy but overall not objectionable.
