WTB: Jetbeam RRT01 – Any place to buy it?! + [RRT01 2019 discussion]

I have a digital scale, so I weighed the light. It weighs 75.43g total, the head alone weighs 56.40g from all the brass that’s in the pill.
The tube is thin and is very light feeling at 19.03g with the clip on. With a Aspire 18350 and all the marbles she weighs in at 100.34g.
Yelp, she’s a big girl. It really doesn’t feel that bad to be honest. In comparison my bored out for a 18350 Sunwayman V11R weighs 70.53g with a Aspire battery in it, 45.62g without.

The head on my original RRT-01 is 30 grams
the body with clip is 19 grams

seems the new model has an extra 26 grams worth of Brass in the head

lets say they did it on purpose, because they thought brass was a good conductor for the extra heat, from the 50% higher lumen output of the new XP-L LED

I question the assumption that brass is a better conductor than aluminium, but, I know people think brass is a good conductor (I dont)

brass actually conducts heat half as well as aluminium
and brass is 50% heavier than aluminium
but, lets not argue about alternative facts… LOL!

I think we can all just agree to agree, that the new RRT-01 extra weight is in the head, and the pill IS Brass

I just ran a little none scientific test. I held my RRT and the V11R in my hand on full power. Both lights (current modded) put out close to the same lumens with the same LH351D. The V11R has a slight output advantage but not alot. The V11R will get to a uncomfortable hot in about 55 seconds with the tube also becoming very warm but not hot. The new RRT I ran for two minutes and the head is warm but not uncomfortable and the tube I can’t feel has changed in temp, but maybe slightly. So all that extra weight in brass is doing something.

the brass insulates the user, and holds the heat in much better! LOL

or to spin it another way

The brass absorbs the heat (it actually doesnt), so the LED stays cooler (it doesnt)

what would keep the LED cooler would be if the pill was Aluminium or Copper
and with those materials, the user would feel the heat in their hand more

another example of a poor conductor, Titanium

a Titanium TCR-1, wont get as hot as the Original RRT-01
not because titanium runs cooler… its just a better Insulator… better than Brass

If Jeatbeam is listening, give us back the smooth ball track and more thermally conductive, and lighter weight RRT-01 head

or… just ignore me

and make another one of those Titanium TCR-1 or Eye10 TiC models, with the Original head, not the new Brass Bullfrog Head! LOL!

Thanks to everyone for the detailed stats and info. Finally got the bezel open on mine. Deciding between a Samsung emitter and a 3K 90CRI XM-L2. My eyes are still accustomed to and prefer incandescent flashlight bulbs. Staying away from the 2019 version. Don’t really need or use 900 lumens. Most of my day to day usage is well under 50 lumens. And I remember when 60 lumens was considered tactical light territory
That Ti version is cool looking.

The 2x12mm blue fasttech trit vials came yesterday. There to long to fit the RRT01 slots, the width is fine. I had to do a little proxxon rotary tool surgery to make them fit.

I ground the ends of each slot about .5mm or so to gain enough clearance.

Cleaned the holes and added some kafuter UV glue, installed the trits, then hit it with UV light.

It might be dark but I can still see you.

If someone is looking to add trit vials to your new RRT01 the 2x12mm will not fit without modification as above. If you can find 2x10mm, they should fit without any grinding.

What’s the current best (cheapest, most reliable) place to order the 2019 RT01? I checked out HKEquipment but their eBay store is often out of stock or don’t list it. Battery Junction has it but for $80 and I see people mentioning buying it closer to $70. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you.

No worries. Kind of an annoying experience with BatteryJunction though. I ordered the light, 2 x 18650 batteries (for a different light) and 2 cheap battery cases. I knew the light and battery were supposed to be delayed until March 8th but they later sent me an update saying the case was delayed some 2 months and everything was on hold til then. Then they said that the cases actually would come in the same time so I could wait if I wanted. So hopefully I am getting my light in 2 weeks.

Clemence the opening for the MCPCB is 13.5 mm.
I measured the parasitic drain at off between 15 to 60 uA, it fluctuates up and down.
The color of the RRT has a gray hue to it, it looks black but it’s like a really dark gray, almost black.
The difference can be see beside the V11R pic.

Thanks Jon, I read Selfbuilt review too. But do remember that 2,9 years was calculated down to 0V. Expect 1ish year to normal 2,5V as below 2,5V is considered sleeping zone for most Li-Ion batteries. Including the battery self discharge itself.

Ive been using an Eye10 with the stock LED and those supposedly Horrible Detents I ranted about recently… well… when Im not staring at the lumens on my light meter, and not white wall hunting the beam, those little detents are kind of fun. I can see how a muggle would like them.

There’s no better than Clemence to mod these and he has access to the biggest selection of E21A 9080 emitters which IMO is the best looking hi cri emitters available.

if you want a magnetic rotary w 18350, this IS the way to go, if you appreciate a beam with a hotspot for general EDC
and at the price M4DM4X is proposing… I think its a great deal… Bird in Hand, go for it, then beat the bush and someday you may do better, if you can find an original, that weighs less, or a Titanium version, that has more Bling

did I mention the new one has Trit Slots? How can you say no? LOL

if you can settle for electronic ramping, a D4 might be OK, if youre ok with that beam style, and the potential to roast nuts

or if you can settle for a 4 mode triple with onboard charging, still w 18350 capability, there is the Mecarmy PT-16, but it does not have a ramping UI, nor a sublumen mode
