I’d agree with furthering into red light blinker locater use.
Since I received my use case has been on my cycling work bag as a rear facing flashing red light, or as the same on my running pack.
Personally for me hot swapping batteries would be very useful, I work long shifts so cannot charge a low battery after work, don’t like to leave batteries charging whilst I sleep, just swapping in a fully charged battery and going to bed solves that issue for me.

Also, beside rear facing flashing red light. Would you be using it for other purposes?
Personally, I haven’t used the other modes much, the tint is quite green for the white emitters, and the rgb i flicked through for fun then settled on red where it has stayed since tbh.
With less green tint I could see myself using the flood. The spot is constrained by physics in not being able to throw, so I haven’t had any use for that.

Im going on a trip this weekend. I clipped my HD03 to my backpack. I plan to use the flashing Red so my Uber Driver can pick me up easily.
I considered using the Red and Blue Police Strobe, but someone told me that would be illegal: “Impersonating a Police Officer”.. I dont want to get arrested and delayed exiting the Airport..
so I will just “Impersonate a Bicycle” ..

Total flashlight n00bz here. I got a HD03 right after release bc I love old emergency lights.
So far I think the light is good. Probably better for an urban environment.
About the three improvement points, my thoughts.
- Switch: Were there complaints? I think it is mostly fine, I like that you have one switch to choose flood/spot
- Beam: Yeah, maybe the spot could be more spotty, but I don’t expect this to be a TS11.
- Replace battery: That would be so cool, but I don’t know it this would be the same light. A light like the Sofirn ST10 is cooler, but that would be more like a HD03b or something? I’m not sure.
To me the beam thing may be the easiest to improve. The battery thing would be super nice but if you get this light you are accepting the planned death of this flashlight (when the battery dies).
IMO the thing I found annoying of this light is that the red colour is so difficult to stop when cycling colors (this may have been already solved).
It also has a lot of color led modes that I will never use, but that is ok. The blinking any-color and the red/blue is easy to run.

It would still be nice if the light would be somewhat easy to open (couple of small screws) for those who are able to desolder the old and solder in a new battery, if Wurkkos want’s to keep the form factor.
I also don’t dislike the switch. That the lens makes a non-round hotspot came as a surprise to me, I don’t know, why that was chosen and why it had to be a vertical hotspot, not horizontal

Thank you for listening! All of course subjective and IMHO:
- Agreed. Lack of mode memory is for me the most significant failure of HD03. A dim light that invariably starts dim = bad design. Would not have bought it if I knew - my fault.
- And agreed: the on-off switch could be much better. Not only is it tiny, it feels “heavy”, has limited travel, and most surprisingly it doesn’t click. It just doesn’t feel like a good “Japanese” switch, in the good sense of the word, and which Chinese manufacturers now more than fully capable of making. Second biggest problem for me and surprised this one passed engineering evaluation.
- Agreed re. throw. Who wouldn’t want more throw in a thrower.

The best solution for the switch would be to add RGB to the slider and keep the button for changing within the mode. Also could you make the RGB pause at Red please. I love this light and it is so hard to get my favorite color locked in.
