【Wurkkos WK30 PRO】A bit disappointed with the first version of the design provided

Absolutely 660nm. Infinitely better

2 Thanks

Speaking of user’s interface, I used this light and the owners love it. Nice 5000K spot and flood, in high CRI as far as I can tell. Trigger switch which goes Off-Flood-Spot-Both-Off. 600-1000-1250 lm. Goes forever.

How is this project coming along, I wonder?

Abandoned project ?

I don’t want to give up WK30, but the current design doesn’t look good. I will continue to submit requirements

I still like the OG version of the WK30, and think it was nigh perfect when it came out.

Even with the 395nm emitter, its purple spill, which the eye isn’t all that sensitive to, is easier to ignore vs the eerie ghostly pale blue/green of 365nm emitters. 365s need a ZWB2 filter, whereas it’s a nicety with 395s. Still, I’d opt for a 365nm just to be able to fluoresce more stuff.

Red red vs photo red? I don’t really care, 'though others might. Red red is visually brighter for a given power, whereas photo red or deep red needs much more power to get equivalent brightness.

The white emitter, I’m sure a 519 would work great, as that’s what everyone and his grandmother wants, and it is a nice emitter.

All that said, I don’t think the OG WK30 needs much if any improvement in other areas.

26650 vs 21700? the 26 might be a bit fatter, but a sleeve can be used for a 21 instead. 5mm fatter doesn’t sound like much, and if there’s more capacity with a 26, I’d say go for it. I’d be okay with either one.

I’m happy with the OG version of the UI, too. Simple, fairly intuitive, easy to get the hang of. Me, I’d personally drop all blinkies except maybe red in slow-flash or beacon mode, and white in beacon mode. “Police” red/white blinking was cute, so I’d keep it for nostalgia sake. Any use for blinking UV? Doubt it. Strobe and SOS definitely NO.

The simple UI is great for normies as soon as they learn how to switch color and brightness. Don’t strain their brain. Anyone wants a flavor of andy, that’s why God invented flashing pads (just use a “compatible” µC). Normal people don’t want to need a degree in flashlightology just to be able to use a light. If anything, the bubble diagram “flowchart” showing all the clicks and counterclicks, etc., probably just scares off normies wanting to buy the light.

Still, I’d still say the OG version was killer, and just upgrading the emitters would be fine, and leave the rest as-is.

No idea why the upgrade was floundering. Mechanicals? Driver design? UI questions? If sales of the OG were failing, any idea why?

Thank you for your suggestion, it’s great. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a completely different appearance
The main problem with WK30 was that the light cup used at that time always had crooked light beads, and 26650 was slightly clumsy, , USB Micro charging port … and many ordinary people do not know how to operate it, unable to switch between UV and red, which has led to many complaints
