XHP70 forward Voltage

I just received a couple XHP70 LEDs from mtnelectronics and both require 13.3V to hit 2.4A, and 11.6V only gets me 0.56A (half of what Cree’s marketing page at http://www.cree.com/LED-Components-and-Modules/Products/XLamp/Arrays-Directional/XLamp-XHP70 shows). I am running 12awg primary wire from my benchtop psu, fed into two 2” 18awg stub wires on the LED star. PSU and multimeter both match on Voltage and amperature.

Does everyone else see much higher Vf on these LEDs? I was expecting to need around 12.5V for max output, not almost 1V higher.

It sounds like you have a twelve volt version. I'm not sure if the MCPCB is the only difference between the 12 volt and 6 volt XHP70's.

According to Cree’s product tool,
http://pct.cree.com/dt/index.html
the XHP70 12V pulls 13.24V at 2.4A and 11.52V at 0.5A so yours are spot on

Cheers David

I have never seen that page before - thanks for the link.

Yeah, I was going off the datasheet only which showed much lower Voltage requirements. Page 10 in http://www.cree.com/~/media/Files/Cree/LED%20Components%20and%20Modules/XLamp/Data%20and%20Binning/ds%20XHP70.pdf

I wonder why the discrepancy.
