Hi all,
I just dedomed an XM-L2 using the gasoline method, but I accidentally broke one of the bond wires. The LED still lights up, and doesn’t seem to have brightness issues, but is it okay to use in a flashlight? I don’t want it to burn up in a month or something.
I have one XM-L running like that for quite a while. In fact, I don’t even remember which light it was, it’s been that long. So I don’t think it’s going to be too much of a problem, unless you’re really pushing amps.
+1
Also Vf may be a bit higher due more resistance.
If it's the one wire on the side, it doesn't do anything. If one of the 2 primaries -- not sure, maybe PH_Oton has it right, or maybe some reduced brightness, but the higher Vf could cause that...
Thanks for the information about side wire! I’ve watched vinhs dedoming method on YT few days ago and I was wondering why he didn’t mention anything about that side wire when he removed remains of silicone from the sides of emitter. Every day something new to learn on BLF ![]()
